finally a good quality clip from 78 of Let It Rock, the opener.
it was available in shitty quality for a long while, but this sounds
and looks so much better.

yes ty; i know heart of gold and some of the tracks.
i like Neil tons, in a lot of his various periods but
do admit to being more drawn to other singer/songwriters
for whatever reasons, at the time. I may have been turned off
by CSN which for some reason I found personally offensive. lol.
truly. and for decades. I think i did have that Live album and
did appreciate Dallas Taylor, and also the production is fabulous
even on that Judy Blue Eyes thing which sounded like the boy band
death knell of all time to me when I was young.
and middle aged.
now that i'm old some of the anger recedes at times and it's profoundly
beautiful talents and production on songs that don't go doo doo doo doo dooot doot doo doo
doo doot forever and frickazee ever; i've had friends throw me a surprise birthday party and they
all were drinking and singing that and i left.
i didn't want to hurt anybody. They meant well and baked some very groovy little cakes, man.
but yes, Neil's country album in the 80's had Geffen (I think) SUING him!!
for producing it and forcing them to release it. yay; totally love Neil for a lot or reasons.
see his elegant poetry and amazing writing as very gifted; and a gift to receive.
but it's an odd relationship in ways. i like his latter day concert films that guy in Nashville does on him,
well he films 'em down there anyway.
i find his voice both lovely; and sometimes a little bit the 'acquired taste'
i do not see what his so special about guitar work; tho it's distinctively his.
on the other hands i bought Super Session thing Al Kooper produced
with Mike Bloomfieled on Side One and Steve Still on Side 2, and my first exposure ot him had me really impressed;
i loved that record.
thanks for the tip tho. you've thrown a few gems out there that got to me;
this one really moves me; it's brilliant and lovely work; the harmonica
is just so soulful and atmospheric.
you're totally right, this is a major work. i should have it. and will get. ty

Cheers hopkins same to you - keep on posting the tunes!

Since that Goats Head Soup thread has been reawakened, have been dabbling with some of those tunes via youtube, and since yesterday this greatness has been stuck in my head swirling around in all it's magnificence.
Not a bad tune to have stuck in one's head I must say - in fact I could listen to it non stop for an entire week! They don't write 'em like that anymore....

That Billy Stewart vid/link you posted 35love is mistakenly much slower than official version I posted...the tune loses some it's oomph!

Read all about him.> Billy Stewart (1937-1970)

"Bo Diddley has been credited with discovering Stewart playing piano in Washington, D.C. in 1956 and inviting him to be one of his backup musicians.[3]
By 1955, this led to a recording contract with Diddley's label, Chess Records and Diddley played guitar on Stewart's 1956 recording of "Billy's Blues".
A strong seller in Los Angeles, "Billy's Blues" reached the sales top 25 in Variety magazine".

Billy Stewart w/ Bo Diddley - Billy's Blues pt. I &II

_________________________________________________

And his great stompin' version of Summertime from 1966:

Billy Stewart - Summertime

"His idiosyncratic improvisational technique of doubling-up, scatting his words and trilling his lips made his style unique in the 1960s"
