Really, I think A Bigger Bang is quite good.
Eventually, you do get a little tired of it.
Put it this way, it's your average rock record.
The songs are all decent, some even quite good.
It's just another good album, you know?
Look at it this way: there have been better ones.
End of post(now go up and down).

I for one think for the past 25 years the majority of their material has been mediocore, good but not earth shattering.

I'll bet if they decided to re-work their entire setlist to include only material from Emotional Rescue to ABB, they would get accolades from the media and the fans.

The way I see it, their songs from the past 25 years get far less radio airplay, than their songs up til Tattoo You.

Re: ABB STINKS

As far as Bob Dylan goes,I personally find the large majority of his music to be boring. His songs often tell stories that,to me,most often, are extremely uninteresting. If I want a story,I'll get a book.My Bob Dylan cds are gathering dust.I recognize that he is good at what he does and that he is a great song writer but,it doesn't make any sense to me to compare him with the Stones.Dylan and the Stones largely play drastically different types of music.Dylan seems to go heavy on folk sounding music. All types of music do not suit everyone's tastes.I can't picture Dylan recording a song like Too Tight or It Won't Take Long.I won't even get started on his voice. He makes the guy from Dire Straits sound like one of the Three Tenors. There is a good reason Dylan could never draw the huge number of people per tour that the Stones have and still do to some extent.

I don't mind if the Stones may play an old role because,(a)it's a good role & (b)they only play it for a small percentage of the tracks they include on given albums.

My old aunt don't like his voice either.

I'm not trying to agitate Dylan fans and I'm no Dylan scholar but,I have heard alot of his work and that's my take on him.I'm very rarely in the mood to listen to him.A couple of years ago,my neighbour offered free Dylan tickets to me and I decined because,to me,considering the short notice and the fact that I had to work in the morning,it wasn't worth my time.

It's pretty ridiculous for some people to insinuate the Stones would be better (At what?) if they were more like Dylan. The Stones use their own styles and incorporate their preferences of other people's styles which included SOME Dylan influence in the past.

I think they have quite a bit of very good material from the last 25 years. Most of it not earth shattering in the sense that it's as good as their best stuff from the '60s and '70s, but there's some great material there. And of course there's some crap as well, but thankfully that's mostly in the minority.

I totally agree. That would be an amazing show and would spotlight a lot of neglected songs. It'll never happen, but it would be great.

It's a double album basicly. There's alot of really good shi* on it.Streets of love is the best tone if heard Richards get in along time that tone is insane. Not to mention lookwhatthecatdraggein if you know anything about music theory, that is the most intricate run that they have almost ever done musically that is totally wriiten out like somebody writes music on a piano. But as far as TTY is way beyond it's like it had the most posh cocaine recorded in it! UC was killer SW was good BTB Exellent. ABB is really good stuff you just have to dicifer threw it most of it is good but it's no Exile like critics have said.

Now - this way of thinking (as illustrated in the quote above) is just beyond my imagination....HAPPY that a Stones record stinks? Or thinking that it stinks more just because other people think the same? I must be dreaming...I will go back to sleep and wake up to more normal circumstances....(BTW - I love ABcool smiley

Why should they even care about that in the first place? A good record is not judged solely by its sales I should hope? A crossover to the teenage market - I mean - they are all (almost) in their 60's...why should they care or know about teenagers' tastes? Who nowadays are fickle at best...(there - I put in a general assumption so you can all hunt me *lol*)
