Rock and Roll Heaven?
Posted by: Elmo Lewis ()

Remember the old Righteous Brothers hit that came out in the early 70's? There have been a lot more great ones who have gone on since then. The song mentioned Jimi, Janis, Bobby Darin, Morrison, etc. Who would you put in a remake? Mine would be Elvis, Lennon, and Marley. Brian, Stu, Preston? Maybe also Moon and Bonham. No Cobain (maybe R'n'R hell). Whadda ya think?

Unfortunately Rock n Roll Heaven might now be able to assemble a better band than Rock n Roll Earth.

I'd like to cast a vote for Sterling Morrison (Velvet Underground).

One guy who I think would have become one of the biggest names in rock was Shannon Hoon. 10 times more talented than Kurt Cobain but doesn't get half the recogition because Hoon was more classic rock influenced and grunge was the thing at the time.

Good call Hound Dog, I believe I've read similar posts by you about Shannon Hoon in the past, haven't I? His band, Blind melon were great. I miss them.

Hi Lukester,
Yes I have mentioned Blind Melon and Shannon Hoon before. They have a great dvd out called Live at the Metro. Its a shame he died so young, the band was really just getting started and were similar to the Black Crows in that they were almost like a new classic rock band in the 90s.

I'll have to check it out, Hound Dog. Thanks. I remember their hits, "No Rain," and I think "Tones Of Home," or something like that.

Rock and Roll Heaven? Buddy, Gene and Eddie, of course.

You might have to scrape me off the floor at the end of the tour, but it'll be really good scrapings. - Mick Jagger

Hound Dog, I just downloaded No Rain a couple weeks ago and man, I didn't realize what a good tune this was! I heard it when it first came out but didn't think much of it. Funny how things change. Now it's in my mp3 player! But yeah, Shannon Hoon is definitely missed. At least by this guy. smiling smiley

e-d, I recently met Berry's sister at Duane and Berry's gravesite. Nice lady, real concerned about idiots messing up Rose Hill Cemetary and their graves in particular. Bozos have even stolen the headstone from Elizabeth Reed's grave. It's sickening. BTW, my first concert ever was ABB (Allman's, not Bigger Bang) in Macon. Also, saw Clapton there and he said some nice things about Duane before tearing into Layla.
