Craziest rumour about Stones

One of the craziest I have heard is that Mick was gonna change sex in the '70s.

I heard this crazy rumour that Keith fell out of a coconut tree, hit his head, then got up and started to jetski, fell down again and had to be hospitalized. Until somebody proves it or the Stones admit it, it's just a rumour.

Timeline
Lead singer Mick Jagger stabbed a Hell’s Angels member to death during a free concert at the Altamont Speedway in 1969.
Guitarist Brian Jones got caught up in a drug scandal and had to change his identity to Mick Taylor. He continued to play with the Stones and a fake story about drowning was established by the bands manager.
Lead guitarist Keith Richards is in fact over 800 years old. It is rumored that he during a tour in 1968 got his own blood exchanged with the blood of a bat, and that this is his source for eternal life. Since then he has always slept upside down. The blood-incident is apparently the source of inspiration to their following 1969 album Let It Bleed.
Bass guitarist Bill Wyman decided to set up a Flea Circus in 1976 and after some initial difficulty getting the fleas to feed on the other members he managed with the help of some top accountants.
The band's name derived from Keith Richards' discovery at the age of 14 that he suffered from gallstones.
The band are rumoured to be immortal. Hilary Duff has denied these allegations.
Brian Jones was a member of the Great Britain Society of Unicyclists.
The band finally retired after releasing their last single, "Time for Us to Go (and Shit in Our Pants)".
The Rolling Stones come back from retirement and go one tour. The tour was called: Goats Head Soup.
Mick Jagger is sent to the crazy house for tripping over grass.
After the death of Chalie Watts, David Lo Pan joined the stones line-up.
Mick Jagger is let out of the crazy house. Now he misses those white magicians.
The World blows up.
The Rolling Stones went on tour and earned a profit of $0 because no one was alive.
In year 1345618346519836941837 they went on tour again.
They finally died, except for Keith Richards, he's lonely now.

Craziest rumour ever.... that the Stones would play Wembley Stadium this year! What idiot thought of that. Since when could a British builder do anything without adding about three months to the end of his buildign schedule.

for those of us who've been around the 'net for long enough, the one about the Stones playing Wembley Stadium on Millennium Eve in 1999 was one that seemed to run for about as long as its taken to rebuild the stadium itself. Aside from the impracticality of it to anyone who's actually BEEN in london at that time of year and the band stating well in advance they'd no interest in doing anything to mark the occasion, it still didnt stop some people who would normally be expected to know better making ludicrous statements about a 6-hour concert, live on TV with numerous guest appearances including ex-members, etc.

I seem to remember that particular rumour, making waves in the music press, months before the actual event.
About the only thing that wasn't rumoured, for that night
was Brian Jones putting in a guest appearance.

didnt stop some loonies speculating (in Julian Lennon/John Bonham style) that maybe they could get round that 'reunion' snag by inviting one of his sons to play on a song!

I'm not around long enough to come up with something historically relevant, but this is the story that a collegue told me:

She was at one of the Amsterdam Arena shows in 2004, seated on the long side of the stadium, near the stage. Se said she could see a whole band of background singers, gitars and horns back stage, playing the actual music in stead of the Stones. The Stones themselves were just walking around the stage, pretending to play but actually doing nothing. It made a lot of sense to her, these guys were off course all around 60 years old. She enjoyed it anyway.
But, telling this, she made me look like a major fool, going through the efforts to get these expensive tickets for rescheduled shows. I can tell you: at a moment like that nothing can convince someone of anything else: it is what she saw with her own eyes. I told her that they are actually with about 14 people on stage, and that she probably confused these other people with a back stage band, I've tried everything (also guitar tuners) but she just looked at me with this pitying smile, like she just told me that Santa doesn't exist...

Still feels like I lost, and she won.
Well, at least I will see these 'pretenders' again this year ;-)

sluissie - Yes all the guitars playing are infact played by other people so that the 'Stones' performance is note perfect.
Some people believe what they wan't to hear & see but more than often it is just a figment of their imagination.

1. The Mars Bar.
2. The blood change.
3. Keith sang as a choir boy in front of the Queen.

That's the most ridiculous one I've ever heard apart from the plane that did not hit the pentagone.

2. Tony Sanchez said in his book that it actually happened. Keith denied it and its most likely untrue, but its understandable that people believe the story when it appears in a biography 'written' by someone who was a close aide - its not exactly the 'urban myth' that the Mars Bar story is

3. Not a rumour. Keith has said several times that he sang at the Queen's Coronation (June 1953). Quite believable.

what is the mars bar story? Ive never heard it.

Re: Craziest rumour about Stones

This was an alleged story of Marianne Faithfull dressed in just a fur rug being brought to the hight of satisfaction by Mick sucking on a Mars bar in a below the belly bottom position.
Strangely this happened when the cops broke in and bust Mick,Keith & Marianne for posention of drugs.
In 1967 the Britsh government and judicial system were adament that the 'Stones' were a danger to morality and respectability within the country because of their new ideals and values.
Therefore a conspiracy was conducted by that vial newspaper 'The News of the World'which lead to the Mick being senticed to 3 months in jail and Keith 12 months.
The old fashioned judicitry were adament along with several goverenment figures that the' Stones' were a disruptive influence on younger people and that existing values had to be kept even if it mean't dis-torting the truth.
Strangely enough some of the older generation who wrote for the leading newspapers expounded the fact that is was only because Mick Jagger had benedrize tablets (under pre-scription via Italy) that both Mick & Keith were being unfairly prosecuted.
1967 was not a good year for the 'Stones' in many ways and that was reflected in their musical output.
By the way the 'Stones' were not innocent but at the same time old judisal gets could not acept that the time's they were a changing.

Yea, that's funny.
It's not a rumour, but it's very funny on the Honolulu bootleg from 1966, when Mick says "This is the last we'll do - EVER!!"

Gricha, NICOS & Stones40: thank you for confirming it is her imagination that is slightly oversized! So I'm at least not THAT naïve. Just the healthy bit...

That the Stones management plans to build rear view seating for their stadium shows, call them "on-stage seats" and sell them for 500-1000 Euro each. What? that's not a rumor?

That Paul had died in car crash somewhere around 1966 and they found a replacement that looked and sounded just like him (that's why they changed their look and sound for "Cosmic Christmas"). If you play some of the songs backwards there are clues and stuff like that. I'm not sure if it's true or not cause I'm still looking into it.....
