I only learnt he'd been sick from a poster here last week & now he's gone. Is it my imagination or are a lot of good musicians popping their clogs at the moment?
It was a sad situation, his Business Manager kept his family away from him at the end, who knows what that was all about. His sister went to court to try to get to see him. Too bad
I saw him with the Stones in 1972, remember him & Jagger dancing around the stage, arm in arm, with Billy's huge Afro taking up much of the "picture"
A tremendously sad day. Billy was incredible - from his early work with Sam Cooke until the last time I saw him with EC a few years back. He will be SORELY missed.
I was shocked to see this topic title.. he was truly a great musician. I was going to see him with Clapton less than a week ago, but that was ofcourse off.. it was a great show, but something was missing.. I was looking forward to seeing him a lot.. a very sad day in rock history, this is!

----------------------------------------------------- Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
I can thoroughly recommend 'The Concert for Bangladesh' which was recently released on DVD. Billy Preston is wonderful in it and his interview, recollecting that moment is superb......probably one of the last interviews he gave as it turned out.
since tenerife, canary islands, spain rest in peace amigo, one of the greatest saw in santa cruz, california, 2002 believe great!! descansa en paz amigo, carlos
Yeah, he's great in the Bangladesh DVD...59 years old, that's not even old. What a shame, he added a lot to so much great music and bands...Hope Rolling Stone magazine does his passing justice...Rest in Peace Billy.....
