Scandinavian gigs?
Posted by: Baboon Bro ()

What are the chances they squeeze in these between July 23 and July 30?
They could not possibly put in two gigs in between those dates.
Or is there indications we will see them in September?

Both speculation and hard facts are welcome?

I guess september. First of all I have sources, coming from contacts inside the promoter, that Bergen will be played september 4th. This is of course not confirmed, and it may never happend at this date - or any other day for that matter. But I would count on early september.

The 25th would be a disaster! At least for me.

Two new dates that week would work. 25th and 27th or 26th and 28th.

Don't know if they want to do all North European shows together or if it's possible to split up in, lets say, Bergen/Horsens and Gothenburg/S:t Petersburg.

IF they have to cancel some shows I think Bergen (with just 20.000 visitors) is in danger. But for all norwegian friends I really hope that the Bergen show will happen.

Well, you welomed speculations and here you got it. Speculations...speculations...speculations...

I welcome speculations but more than that
strong indications and most of all the ice cold stone hard facts.
More?

as they always seem to take a break after about 4 shows maximum, my guess is that there would be maybe one show between the 23rd and 30th. Certainly no more than two.

Makes sense to play all the Scandinavian shows together, so I would say none of them will take place at that time.

They can't play Scandinavia in late July. Then at least all Norwegians are on holiday, and they will all refund their Bergen tickets.

Monsieurs Bv and Gary:
Is it out of question Bergen will be cancelled (?);
I hear more and more folks thinking loudly about that.
Is there any reason at all to consider that possibility?
What do you say... ?

The can play whenever they like - I'll be there. I'll cancel every other activity - including the vacation in Antigua and Mystique. But I too suspect that Bergen will be the first gig to go if they have to consider cancelling one og more shows. Only 20.000 people... It was a bad idea to plan the gig there from the beginning. It sold out in 5 minutes. So many disappointed Stones fans didn't have the chance to buy tickets.

What happened to Valle Hovin?

There was a great show there in 98. And in 95, and two shows in 90.
At least it takes 35.000 people.

Valle Hovin was not sold out 1998.

wouldnt be in a position to speculate any more than anyone else, to be honest

Strictly speaking, ANY of the 15 postponed shows could be cancelled if they cant find a suitable new date. Bergen may be the smallest show capacity wise but it sold out quickly didnt it? That cant be a bad thing. The Scandinavian shows all seem to have sold well. That would surely encourage the Stones to try and reschedule all of them

Sold out after 30 minuts.

Valle Hovin is perhaps the worst concert venue I've ever been to. Bruce Springsteen said it was on of the worst venues he ever played.
It's an old wintersports stadium, and during concerts you stand on stone hard cement. After Stones played 4 concerts on Valle Hovin, I understand they got tired of it. Especially when last show in 1998 did not sell very well, and don't forget a member of the audience managed to get up on stage during the show.

I remember the insane man who get up on the stage, he run into me when I stood with the little stage. A short, but powerful man with al ot of beard and hair. Mick Jagger was very smooth when the man try to get him, Mick was undesturb of the scene and didn`t stop singing. My guess is that the man was full of amfetamin or cocaine. I agree that Valle Hovin is no good place for concerts, but the choosen spot in Bergen looks wonderful. I hoped for Lerkendal in Trondheim but you can`t always get what you wantsmiling smiley

Bergen outdoors in September would be pure madness though... The rainiest town in Norway smiling smiley

There aint no way they're going to Lerkendal... The boys have exquisite taste. Would not set foot in Trondheim. Too many hillbillies... Totally out of the question. I vote for Ullevål Stadium. 25000 people capacity, not counting the football ground. We're looking at 40.000 - at least. That's what we need, not some sort of "regional friendly" tourist crap. This is about as many fans as possible getting a chance to see their band. So, dear promotor - Ullevaal stadium - not f???*ØX rainy Bergen...

I will not call it pure madness! It can be very hot in Norway in the first part of september, remember july and august are the warmest months in Norway. The weather will not suddenly change, so I don't think there will be any problem at all to play in early september. And by the way, stones play in rain or shine.

St.Petersburg is rescheduled to 2007, this is brand new information just announced here. Tickets are refunded starting from June 13 (there will be new arena since Kirov stadium goes into reconstruction). It is said that some european concerts are also rescheduled to 2007, so it seems Scandinavian gigs also will happen then...

Christ!!

well, they'll hardly come back to Europe just to play a very small number of concerts - so, like 1999, I think that means they'll play extra European shows in 2007 and almost certainly US shows in between this summer and next.

Can you confirm that it specifically says "some" European shows being delayed and not "all". Thanks

That would be a shame, if they tour US in september instead of Europe.

Exactly.

We don't know how trustworthy any of this information is yet.

Perfect! Then we can see some European shows this summer, some in the US and the MSG/NY this autumn, some new European venues next spring/summer and probably WEMBLEY! And then the East Coast of the US again... This is turning out to be a "Perfect Day" (Thank you, Lou). (If the info here is true, that is...)

You'll be lucky if Wembley is even ready for NEXT summer, shidoobee. I'm not joking, either.

I don't share your enthusiasm. They have to focus on Europe before even thinking about US.

Yeah, perfect indeed. Let's all take a year free from work, chart an aircraft and have some fun for a year...

It is said in the Russian promoter statement that a number of concerts is rescheduled to 2007, not all of them.

agreed - but if its too much of a problem to reschedule some of the 15 postponed shows for this summer, then rescheduling them for next year is much better than just cancelling them as some had feared may happen (plus it means we get two tours a year apart instead of one)

As long as its just a few shows being postponed and not the entire European leg

OK, i'm ready - let's charter a plane! I can bring my work with me. As long as I have my lap-top and a mobile phone, my company's up and running... Anyone else for a year of fun?!

Was going to ask if there were any rumours about a new date for Gothenburg so that I could change my flight dates, but have now been told my flight is non changeable and non refundable! It just gets better and better....
