Sad Day here in Barcelona
Posted by: TooTough ()
Date: May 27, 2006 12:42

Hi,

great weather, great city, great company (my wife) -
but something is missing.

The nearer showtime gets the more I´m pissed.

Gotta go for the refund now.

Salar, Thomas, Peter and Birgit: see you soon!

Regards,

TooTough

PS: Lorenz, we have been at the Cafe Zurich (11 pm, yesterday).
PS2: Hey, I always wanted to do these: ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ !

Thomas, I wrote you an sms saying that we would be late - and would be at the Cover band gig later! But I guess there were some problems sad smiley

We've arrived at the Glaciar at 22:40. There were only 3 austrian girls from IORR. After a beer, we went to the Zac-Club but we didn't find it. Conclusion: we couldn't see neither the Smoking Stones nor the other fans.

Is there another meeting plan for today??

They were not bad at all, those Smoking Stones. But the setlist could've been improved - would've loved to hear some hits winking smiley

I'll post some videos here later.

Sad day indeed because the European opening day is now the lowest point since ABB kicked off in Boston.

Let Me Down Slow should be added to the set list.

Hi Too Tough, my old fellow...a sad day indeed....instead of being in Barcelona right now, being with you and all the other crazy Stones fellows..being nervous and exited cause just 7 hours left before Keith hits the first chords of JJF..
I am hanging here in a rainy Cologne watching Tv...and
counting the days till world cup starts and I wish I could count the days till the first Stones gig, too..but noone is telling us when it will happen...if it will happen. Again i have to blame the Stones camp for not informing us at time...cause any amateur knows, that, after a surgery, you have to rest for 6-8 weeks...so they could have cancel the whole June just the same day, Keith was under the knife..but this is another topic..
Anyway..enjoy your time in Barcelona somehow....regards to Birgit.

Cusoon.

LOL! I appreciate their sense of humour. Maybe they'll publish setlist and photos from that show too?

I would like to be in Barcelona today, just because my best friends are there, and i have to wait till Paris next week to meet them. But i don't know if i could deal with all that sadness. Hard time this evening isn't it?

Salar and all the others,

I was at the stadium 2 hours ago.

So I can now officially confirm:

No stage (just the lawn with 4 to 5 pidgeons,
no Edwin Shirley trucks,
no fans (just fans of Espanyol Barcelona or tourists).

NOW I really believe that the show will not happen:-(

The stadium is not in the best shape, a lot of reconstruction
(reminds me of the Stones situation).

No ServiCaixa bureau anywhere. Is it just virtual?

So tonight, when it¡s getting darker we all will miss
something.

See you all soon...IF the tour goes on.

regards,
TooTough

PS: Lorenz, what is an SMS? :-)
Tonight we are at the beach in Barceloneta!
Just pass by and we¡ll have a drink or 10!

Really a sad day... although nothing negative about Barcelona, still a really beautiful city, the stadium was empty today. Just a few lost fans that were anyway in town. See the picture. Summer temperatures would have made it an unforgettable even. Really a pity...

Hi Pep and hi Lorenz,

I dind't saw you at the club Pep but we did meet Lorenz. LAways nice to meet new Stonesfans from all over the world. I was at the club with some Dutch Stonesfans. We liked the gig very much! The band played tight and powerfull. Great to hear those old tunes played with such (Spanish) passion! I did managed to get a promo cd from the band and played it just in my car when I was driving home from the airport....the cd definately rocks!

Barca is a great city! Lot's to see and to eat! I also went to the Olympic stadium but nothing about the Stones there....not even a sight that the gig was postponed!

Looking forward to see the Stones play in Barca!

Adios amigo's!

Cheers,

Dolf

Hi Dolf,

Yes, I notice in the club some Dutch people...with beatiful Stones t-shirts!
How is the CD looks like?
Is a CD-R or a silver pressed cd?

I try to get one but it was too late;-(

Thanks

Pep

Some of us french fans were at Glaciar from 11.00pm onwards on saturday, with people from Finland and two girls frow Shidoobee. Saw some fans at the stadium on friday, also two girls near Santa Marta del Mar.

Unfortunately, there was no show - but one positive note: there were only 14 box office stands at the stadium where we were supposed to collect tickets 1 hour before the gates open. That would have been a nightmare.

And one positive note from Brussels: the weather is lousy this week!

Hi Nandita. Was also in Barcelona.

I spent two very pleasant days close to Cadaques, where Dali had his habits. Very nice fishing village.

Hi Too Tough ( and others ), sorry I didn't meet you. Looked around at Place Reial - Glaciar a few times, but no Stones shirts in sight. Anywhere. Didn't arrive till late Friday, so that would probably explain a few things..
Barca would have been the perfect tour-start. Was close to the stadium Saturday evening and kept hearing those opening riffs....Anyway, this was my first trip to Barcelona. But certainly NOT my last.

we went also to hear The Smoking Stones, and we realy enjoyed their show. The setlist was plenty of old blues songs."Less is nothing!!"
Anybody thinks that the open night could be in Barcelona?

Don´t loose your mind!!!
