Interesint to hear differnet takes on this song. I thougth it was really cool how they broke up the chorus like that the first time I heard LYL. the way they do it now is mick sings it as one hoonkey tonk on the first couple of verses then splits it up later. they aslo add an additional chorus. I guess that started in 89 as far as how it sounds today, I would say that it depends on what night you catch it. and what mood your in. I thought It rocked when I saw them on this tour.
Wanna say that the 78 version rocks like hell!!!They play it slow the intro is very long(Ilike that!!)pfffff their are so many versions of this song..and we also have Country Honk..I just never get tired of it..what I like to..is on somelife shows..on the end WHoAAAAA!!!thats great..I think they now play it a little to fast.I rather hear them play nervous faster and HTW slower..so we really can taste the groove.

I agree. The 78 version is a killer. And Mick's singing is sharp as a razorblade.
Nowadays he's changing the intonation arount as if he's getting bored with it. He kind of chews the words. There's a boot from Yokohama 2003 where the singing voice is way upfront (they call it "Mick's Monitor Mix"). There you can hear the whole mess (very interesting, though, like being under Mick's helmet).

That 78 version was so cool almost like they were a band from kingston ..and you can hear the frustation in jaggers voice..top..nowadays its just a circus act.

Speaking of "fist", I wonder if BeelyBoy and Redlight went through with their fight last night. The thread's gone, so I didn't see how it all ended. Anyone know?
I'm not saying that it's not a good live song, I just think they should have a faster opening song, as they did this very slow in 75/76. A rocker like BrownSugar in 72/73 or Let It Rock in 78.
