Make sure you all pick up the New Jack White Project, the Raconteurs recording...it COOKS! Would be a good show to see...I heard they are playing in Chicago soon....
great post psychedelic, funk, garage....some MONSTER slide guitar...
When I started a thread about the same subject a few days ago it was deleted! Anyway, I was disappointed. The thing is, with Jack White, you expect big things. This record is good, but it contains no surprise. There is very little originality. So yesterday evening I gave the CD I bought to a friend. I'd rather just cherish the things Jack White did with the White Stripes.
Yeah, I bought this album too... I like it, but I am surprised how Zeppelinesque it really is. Especially that final track, 'Blue Veins'... The vocals are so very much like Robert Plant in the early days. How does that happen?
All said, I like the last half of the cd best, regardless of its retro-qualities. I think the voval harmonies are nice! I wish the songs were a little longer, because they are good. I was surprised that the cd is so short.
I like some of the White Stripes stuff, but I must say, this and the Loretta Lynn album he did show how good he can sound with a bass player and a real drummer.

Ack! Did I imply something impolite when I kinda inferred that Meg isn't a very good drummer?? Yes, I know, it is part of the WStripes sound, and JW admits it, saying he likes her to "sound like a 5 year old," but in their earlier records especially, I really can't handle it. And I do love a good bass line so. I stand by my words... I hope they do not offend.

Correct Tate, Meg is not a real drummer, she is 'the one and only Drummster!'
