It looks good though.

A couple of years ago there was a rumour of a new song recorded with Rod Stewart called "I'll sing You'll strum" or something like that. Does anyone have any idea if this is the one, the last song on cd 1?

I'll probably buy it but I would love to see the Disc Two content be more solo Ronnie work from his recent CD's (he has a few good live ones)...Reminds me a bit of the way Robert Plant did his 2 disc set

I hope they release 1234 soon too....I got a link to the Japanese CD-site some weeks ago, but I don't dare to order. Because I can't see any words, just Japanese language, so I have no idea what I'm ordering or agreeing to.
I found his 3 first albums in the 90s, but not 1234.

Nice concept. Its hard enough to find Ronnie's back catalogue in the shops and a compilation is long overdue. To get an additional disc also featuring his work with all the bands hes played in is a great idea.

A lot of those songs on disc 2 will be new to me, so its an exciting release. Pity theres no room for "we all get old" but we all have our own favourites

Don't know if this is the box set announced on www.woodenrecords.co.uk some months ago but this is great news anyway !

Let's hope for a re-release of all Ronnie's back-catalogue soon...

Keeping my fingers crossed. As per the artwork, I would imagine it would be from his own stuff...

Would have liked to have seen the studio takes of True Blue and I'm Losing You that were on Rod's albums, but featured all the Faces. (True Blue was actually cut as a Faces session)

Both feature some great monster guitar by Woody.

Probably the one flaw with the Faces box from Warner/Rhino is that it doesn't include these versions (originally released during Rod's Mercury records period)

Too bad.

Sure The One You Need from the '75 Stones tour would have been cool.If they record every show, why do they never do anything with the vast majority of them?

loog droog, you probably know this, but Rod's 3-cd "Complete Mercury Studio Sessions" has all the Mercury Rod albums (5), and each has a couple of Faces songs as you mentioned (also the only song recorded by both Small Faces AND Faces, "My Way Of Giving.") Also, an alternate "It's All Over Now," "What Made Milwaukee Famous," ('72 b-side), the Faces single recorded post Lane but before Tetsu joined, "Oh No Not My Baby"/"Jodie" ('73) - Wood on guitars & bass, Kenny, & Mac, but issued as by Rod since it was on Mercury - & Smiler outtakes. I do wish there was more rare stuff on this Wood set, since I have all his solo albums (Birds, backstage jams, the Dylan "Time Out Of Mind" stuff that went unissued, etc). Must say "Not For Beginners" (2001) has grown to be my favorite of his albums, it's so emotionally powerful, the playing shimmers (all those guitars/dobros/steels/slides/acoustics, etc), I could remember the melodies after just a couple plays, & the leisurely, unhurried pace of the songs & rhythms, the way they develop, are haunting, it's a great late night album, & his most personal.

Yes, John R., that complete Mercury set is pretty much all the solo Rod I need.

Once he jumped ship to Warner Brothers his value as an artist evaporated.

(OK, there's a couple of tracks here and there that are arent't bad...)

But for the most part, everything just stinks.

Odd when you look at the people he was working with: Steve Cropper, Al Jackson, Jesse Ed Davis, Tom Dowd, etc., etc.

Solo Paul Westerberg reminds me of Warner's Rod. (Not a stretch, since the Replacements were latter-day Faces, in least in attitude) The rough edges seem planned.

Theif--Sure the One You Need is a KEITH song (with what could be his worst lyric ever!) Yeah, It's on Woody's album, but KR wrote and sang it. A RW Anthology just wouldn't be the place for it.

I didn't know that Richards wrote it.On the Miluakee '75 disc that I have it sounds like they were both singing it but,I have only listened to it a few times because of the sound quality.I didn't think the lyrics were that bad but,I never made them all out either.
