Mick Jagger vs. George W. Bush

The battle is raging over a hotel room, according to this article.

Jagger and Bush battle over hotel rooms

(KP International) – George 'Dubya' Bush and Mick Jagger are both scheduled to be in Vienna at the same time - Jagger for concerts, Bush for a summit - both want the luxurious Royal suite at the ritzy Imperial Hotel. The problem is, Jagger booked it first.

The Rolling Stones' frontman showed no 'sympathy for the devil' when Dubya's lackeys tried to get the desired rooms. Jagger, who has spoken out against Bush's involvement in Iraq, refused to give up the US$6,300 per night suite – viewed as one of the top 100 hotel rooms in the world.

"White House officials had wanted to reserve the suite and all the other rooms on the first floor," a source told the UK's Sun. "But Mick and The Stones had already booked every one of them. Bush's people seemed to be under the impression that they would just hand over the suites but there was no way Mick was going to do that."

Jagger lashed out at Bush on The Stones' 'A Bigger Bang' album singing, "You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite. You call yourself a patriot, well I think you are full of sh*t."

Maybe there's a vacancy at the local Super 8.

Go Jagger! They're fighting this very moment in suite 201, Jagger has just hitted Bush over the eye, and he's falling over the mini-bar this very moment. "For the love of God" is his final words, before we set over to the weather-channel.

seems like a good opportunity for the lads to write a topical song, working title: "Imperial Suite."

Knowing Mick it would be more likely to be called 'No Bush In My Hotel Room'.

Funny how and if people think Mick is radical in some way when in reality they are fighting over a milionaire hotel suite.

it's more than that - the "suite" is just a symbol here

I had this topic up a few days ago and someone at IORR closed it - they didn't seem to understand it was big news (at least in the States). What is not understood is that since Jagger said he's not moving he could EASILY be put on some "Enemies of Bush" Government list that could be a big problem for him the next time he needs a work Visa to tour the States. The Nixon Government did this to John Lennon and almost had him deported (because Lennon spoke out big time against the Vietnam war) Only "People Power" saved Lennon. So many petitions with millions of names flooded into the Government they had to back down. It may sound rediculous but Bush / Cheney get revenge on EVERYONE that crosses them. In a lot of ways they remind me of Nixon - a giant war that's a horrible failure, a very secretive administration, a lot of lying and corruption. What a lot of Europeans don't understand is that since the entire Government is the same party majority as Bush (Republicans) they block any and all investigations of him and Cheney. This November, if the House or Senate become a Democratic majority after the elections you'll see more investigations going on then women Bill Wyman has sleep with - IOW ,PLENTY. This is serious news and I wish EVERYBODY would understand that.....

Nixon was paranoid, John Lennon was famous for his performances and protests - this has absolutley nothing in common with Nixonx paranoia.

the difference is that in the States Bush is being critizied and he can be forced to answer questions about the war etc. Socialdemokraterna (the left) in sweden runs the whole country and are more or less untouchable. Democracy works in the States but not in Sweden. Most Americans don't know this and think Europe is some kind of democratic paradise. Its the other way around.

LA Forum, my very close cousin and her husband are dentists and live/work in Sweden (one of the top 3 cites, you guess which one) I know ALL ABOUT Swedish politics. I live in Paris part time, I know all about French politics, they both have problems but are no where as F*cked up as the USA...Today the big news is they are one step closer to bombing IraN (not IraQ) This is an insane Government.... I don't see Sweden or France bombing the whole planet......AND, everybody has health care, not here, You have a very long Serious injury and long stay at the hospital and your bill could be $500,000 - at that point they take away your house and business if you own them...then you get to live on the street... One f*cked up country... money for killing thousands in Iraq but not a dime for the people of America

I agree MicksBrain. Good points. I'm 22 and as soon as I'm done with college this June I'm going to have no health care, unless I can afford the intense bills in a special plan. It's ridiculous.

Similarities - about the same age and in good shape. Good looking daughters. Jet setters.

Differences - Mick hasn't started any wars because his Dad was embarrased. Bush doesn't like Neo-Con.

Well, my relatives are American, they live there and they come from America. I dont know everythning about American politics and you dont know shite about living in Sweden i´f you dont live here and pay taxes and follow debates, read papers, watch news in Sweden, discuss politics in Sweden, study in Sweden etc. Everybody has healthcare?????????? L O L. We pay taxes but baby, we don't get free health care, we get bad shitty health care and three year waiting for cancertreatment - this kills people. people who voted for the Left.
People are forced to leave their homes because of the insane and worthless socialist taxes in Sweden. Old people who voted for the Left. Dont even go there.
Sweden was an allied to Germany during WWII. Sweden has never ever been neutral. Never. And we sell weapons (Bofors). France? OMG. Europe has a really really dark and bad history of violence, colonialism, Holocoust, Massmurder, Communism, Nazism, World Wars etc. George Bush brought down Saddam. Iran is a serious threat dont you know that?

Yeah, I know your health care system is going down hill, I talk to my cousin about it... Yeah, Europe HAS, as it was very dark in the past, America is being very dark now.... Saddam...he was CONTAINED. Iraq was a balance against Iran, now the whole area is destableized thanks to stupid Bush... You know, when you see a pit of cobra's you don't get a stick and start poking them - best to leave them alone
