These have a retro 1950's flavor. Which do you think is better. Do you enjoy? Skip one or both? Which gets the nod in your opinion? MEZ

they're both in the "okay" category for me - but I don't hear anything "50's" about either....maybe 1959 in a pinch

hi james...well like both really, sweethearts togeher has that western flavour and is to me one of the last great keith-mick singing toghether song with fantastic harmonies by keith. New faces got that strange medieval arrangment that amuse me! But is a sweet ballad..can't choose!

I'm with Tod, I think both are just okay, but if I had to choose I'd say New Faces

New Faces is ok, but Sweethearts Together is one of the worst songs the Stones have ever recorded. I cringed when I first listened to it and still skip it.

New Faces is timeless. A beautiful traditional melody, good lyrics, and a very nice arrangement. Jaggers singing and phrasing is superb on this one. Classic stuff.
I like Sweethearts Together, but most for its charming duet.

i believe i would retch if i heard anyone else do Sweethearts, but
i love it when the Glimmer Twins sing love songs to each other.
it's a beautiful atmospheric piece, like Backstreet Girl;
and so is New Faces. and i'm real happy i don't have to choose between them.

I like New Faces a lot. ST is pretty silly.

"Sweethearts" sounds a lot like "All That Heaven Will Allow" by Bruce. "New Faces" really has that early 60's Stones ballad sound (ala "Lady Jane"). Both are OK, neither is spectacular.

Like them both. Sweethearts Together is great, I recall Mick saying something about being fond of that song in Rolling Stone magazine.

New Faces is a bit too Lady Jane-ish for me, but it's better than Sweethearts Together, the latter is clearly a tounge-in-cheek song.

I like New Faces way better. If I were to pick the bottom 5 Stones songs, Sweethearts Together would be one of them...I just can't stand that song.

I'd give New Faces 7/10 and Sweethearts Together 1/10.

I absolutely love Sweethearts together, it reminds me of the summer of 1994 when Voodoo Lounge came out. I was 17.

New Faces, but I do love them both.

I like New Faces better...the lyrics are actually interesting.

But I don't dislike Sweethearts...it's syrupy but they do a good job of it.

It's not very stones, and maybe that's why I it, both really, far better than YGMR...that song is just trying too hard.

On that album I think the ballads are stronger than the rockers.

A couple of asides re New Faces:

1) While Keith is sitting in the studio yarning to the engineers and playing all the stuff you can hear on Voodoo Brew 2, what he ought to be doing is recording some overdubs for this song.

2) Interesting theory from somebody on YouTube: the lyrics of New Faces are Mick getting jealous of Kurt Cobain's popularity! You'll need to go to YouTube to see the comments. Not my theory, so don't point any fingers at me!
