Four Flicks

Quikc question...I just bought this amazing set but on the arena show disc there is no sympathy for the devil. On the websites I have checked the show is supposed to end with this song but instead on the disc it's JJF. Anyone know why this is?

the shows aren't complete on FF - only the Stones could tell you why, and they don't even know

Speaking of Four Flicks, when I was in Tokyo last month, I noticed that Four Flicks retailed for 14,000 yen (about $120) in Japan. I know all about region 1/region 2, but was there additional content in the Japan version?

I got it for like $22 at Best Buy. 14,000 Yen? That's ridiculous. Yeah, I've been wondering if those were the full setlists. I remember catching a replay of the show at MSG on HBO, and I can't believe that they'd take out numbers, and if not from MSG then at the Twickenham or the Palais Royale show.

All 3 shows on FF are incomplete.

Start me Up missing from MSG was to be found on a promo DVD from BestBuy.

the arena show featured SFTD but it didnt end with it. JJF was played after it to finish the show.

they probably left out a few songs from each show due to so many being duplicated. It would hardly have mattered to be honest

The MSG HBO version of Sympathy For The Devil was pretty dire. Keith MAKES or BREAKS that song. If he's not on form, the whole thing collapses.

I hate the fact that Rip This Joint wasn't included on Four Flicks. Rip This Joint is supposed to be the fastest Stones song along with Flip The Switch and I truly enjoy the great speed of these tunes.

I read a review by Mathijs of the Olympia gig and here's what he says about Rip This Joint - "Rip This Joint was a real treat. Keith played it in open tuning instead of open G, the band didn’t seem to know the song very well, but Mick kept everybody heading the same direction, and it was played very fast and excellent"

I don't agree with all of Mathijs opinions, but I loved Rip This Joint from the Olympia too. The 1st time I saw them play this one live was at the Olympia... in 1995.

I still didn't take time to compare both versions, but both complete Olympia concerts are available on bootleg CD in excellent sound quality.

Any chance you would consider "Liberating" them on Dime a Dozen this weekend?

"Turd on the run" is their fastest song by the way, at least if you count beats per minute.

Yeah must be. But I think they mean the tempo when they mean the fastest one. I have a B2B promo (With the CD and an interview CD). Keith says that Flip The Switch is their fastest one ever. I think it is Rip This Joint though.

Sorry, but I think the only thing I could post on Dime would be the 3 songs that have not been included on FF. Seeding AUD CDs of concerts officialy released on DVD is against Dime's rules, as far as i know...

For the Olympia 1995, I think you can currently find it on the Rocks Off torrent tracker.
