I had something similar happen. It was the mid 80's and they were playing Bowie's newest album. This "cool" guy says to the room trying to sound impressive "I don't like this record, I prefer his old stuff, you know, like the Serious Moonlight stuff". We all just laughed and he didn't know why.

time is a relative concept, though. for young ladies in 1981, 1978 was eons ago, I suppose.

Bill Wyman have said the same thing in 81.
He was talking about some interview with fans he saw on the TV.....
the interviewer asked
-"How long have you been a Stones-fan?"
-"Oh, I go WAAAAY back, ever since the Some Girls album."

"I didn't know they were a country band"

Said by a girl I was riding with to the concert when "Honky Tonk Women" came on the radio.

Are you sure they aren't coming back again? (heard after every concert on this tour after Satisfaction)

After alot of shows (especially in 81), Mick saying "See Ya Next Year". And only 8 years later....

When I saw the band at Maine Road, Manchester in 1990, some guy kept shouting 'Strawberry Fields Forever' & 'Day Tripper' at the top of his voice. It was obviously a joke & I must admit, it did seem pretty funny at the time!

It actually was before a concert, but a classic:

"Fantastic, thank you, the Cranberries at the Rolling Stone!"

This was said by a young (blond) babe to whom a friend of mine had just given as a birthday present a ticket for the Stones at Milano/Licks Tour

p.p.s. Rolling Stone is a well known club/disco in Milano

GR has a good one that he overheard at MSG on Licks about some disgusted punter who walked out of the show when the band played a romantic number (or was it "love train"?) because I think he felt his manhood threatened.

This was me asking the usher where my seats were at. I was told with a smile that they were front row seats. I didn't even know until that moment. If I had known that before I might have not been able to live with myself I would have been so anxious about the show.
