I was just reading the reviews from Sydney and was surprised to see the lousy stage they had in Latin America. I thought it was only ment for those countries. Is Europe getting the same stage? It couldn't be more basic! If they charge top money they should provide a top stage, not a budget one.
the word is europe is getting the one used in the US - and they're selling the On Stage seats at least for Amsterdam as part of a package deal. you should come see the stage in europe for yourself!
Definitely the Onstage stage for some of the gigs. See: rollingstones.fanasylum.com. Take a look at the photo on that page and tell me whether you would pay VIP prices for it.
I heard mostly complaints about the onstage seats. A few lucky ones had great views, but the rest had to peer from high above and over eachother to get a glimpse of the top and back of the Stones heads. Unless you like 75,000 Stones fans staring at you from the REAL seats in the stadium, I would advise against it. And I heard the sound suffered as well back there.
I was happy with my 4th row center seats, and wouldn't trade them in any day for such an overpriced situation as the onstage.
I guess for logistic reasons they used the smaller stage for a few concerts in a region, such as South America and Australia/New Zealand. For longer trips (US, Europe) they will use the regular stage.
I may be a "set-list whiner," but not much of a "stage" whiner. At this "stage" of the game, it's the music that matters a little bit more than what the box they're playing on top of looks like.
In small venues the stage doesn't really matter, whereas in big stadia, when the Stones look like ants, an impressive stage, lights and everything really adds to the experience, especially if they are charging Vegas clubs' prices for those ones.
1 think it was just a time factor in getting the stage up for aust and across to nz . the north american stage looks better on the dvds i have seen. But shit i am just happy to see the band live. IN Auckland they kicked you of your seats the minute the show finished .The stage started to come down, seats staked up ,to be sent to Wellington.4 trucks went down ,all the rest went down by train ,left at 4 in the morning arrived 7 monday night. then everything is being shipped out to spain.Slightly overcast for the show tonight. Stage whiner. You weren't there;I want to see the Stones play on whatever stage they want to play on;the casual fans in Europe will not recognize the U.S. stadium stage;is this because you are buying bootleg dvds? etc.
My friend who went to the MSG show that everyone was raving about complained about the stage. I said, I heard the show was AMAZING!. She said, NO who said that, it was much better before, the stage was so UGLY.
What a waste of a ticket. When people like that get to go to shows, while there's people like us who don't, just something is not right in the world.
Anyway, for me, I like the smaller stage, I don't give a crap what it looks like. Smaller stage for me = better music. They play off each other better since they can see what the other is doing. Mick can devote his energies to the songs rather than filling up this big empty stage.
Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Its funny...ticket prices were so much higher in Mexico than any country in Europe...

Must say I was a little disappointed with the stage in Sydney, we were expecting the super new one we'd read about and this was one big incentive for us to make the Melb.-Sydney trip.
HOWEVER - enjoyed the show so much, didn't regret it for a moment!
