Keith, is he evil?
Posted by: LA FORUM ()

OK here's a wierd one:

Is Keith really a psychopath? Or just very selfcentered as most heroinaddicts?

Perhaps he's just a flawed but relatively grounded individual living in extraordinary circumstances & you are the psycho...

No, I'm not the psycho.

So,in your mind:

Evil = Psychopath = self-centered = heroin addict

Therefore:
Evil = heroin addict
Evil = self-centered
Psychopath = heroin addict

I think you need to back-up some of these accusations with examples that make you feel this way or maybe just narrow down your vocabulary.

Besides, you are asking a bunch of people who love the guy, what kind of responses do you think you're going to get. Are you feeling the need to be sodomized or something? ;-)

Oh c'mon, cool it. People put Brian down and call him sociopath etc etc. I love Keith, or at least his cool syle in the 70s. Heroinists are often described as very selfcentered persons who need the unconditional warmth of the heroin shot. I find the man interesting. And I dont find his laughing interviews of the 90s very amuzing, I think he has more depth than that.

So waht do you think? People anaylyze Elvis, Lennon, Brian, Jim etc but what about Keith?

Hey LA - I'm cool - your question didn't make me mad, i was just preparing you for the lynching you were probably going to get.

However, you do deserve a little slap on the wrist. You called our man 4 different names in one post!

Besides, Keith is supposedly off the junk for like 25 years now. I don't like all his newer interviews where he's laughing about who knows what, either, i'm not completely blind to his faults. But that doesn't mean i think he's a psychopath.

no one here ( i don't think ) really knows him personally.
i've known people who have worked for him in various capacities
and there ARE horror stories about his behaviors...

...so what... his life is open to all this scrutiny; ours generally, are not, our behaviour at work at a particular time for a particular reason or whatever...

...i'd like to also consider and mention that he's been married for a long time to the same woman, seems to be a loving, even doting father to his daughters...
...he works steadily and never misses a show...and often he is transcendant, making lots of people happy...millions of people happy...that's a force for considerable GOOD not evil...
as far as going off on an engineer or whatever gets his skirt in a bundle, i dunno...or particularly care...
we are all subject to deserved criticism i am sure...
the psychoanalisys dosen't offend me...nor the thread...
nor do i question that the general addicitve paradigm does yield
self-centered behavior or infantile agressions...
for some, some of the time...we are all works in progress, hopefully.
psycho and evil are really loaded words tho; and complex seperate issues
in themselves...
many artists have more than one leetle screw loose...
so does everybody else.
when i think of psycho-evil, keith is NOT what comes up for me, personally.
ever.

I don't know whether Keith is evil or not, but I do know that the song "Am I Evil" by Diamond Head is an awesome track.
Metallica did a cover version of this song released on Garage Inc. in the late 90's. Both versions are hard-hitting with nice guitar licks. MEZ

and Ay ay baby it hurts

certainly not evil, nor a psychopath. i agree he is pretty grounded and still makes insightful, creative comments (though not on stage) - his recent comments about the chinese sensors, for example.

however, the laughing interviews and other incidences (a stagehand had to hold him up as he walked off the B-stage at the 2nd united center show in chicago in '03) i think are a result of alcohol. people call ronnie an alcoholic but i think keith is too. alcoholism can cause permanent brain damage called korsakoff's syndrome. i'm not saying he's that far gone, but i think it takes its toll.

Maybe at one time. Now he's about like Grandpa Munster.

Keith makes use of his "stage" personna very well. It's all about the image he projects. Keith today seems to have a revamped personality compared to Keith in '69.

Keith is smart enough to know he likes the "cha ching" sound of the cash register.

Keith at home in Ct is probably not the same Keith that you see on stage. It's a job and he's working.

Satan has two sons. One is Keith Richards. The other's me.

Oh, and he fooled around with Margaret Thatcher once, which resulted in CindyC.
It seems Satan is a pretty smart-ass guy, since all his children are too.

During the week I work in this Bar, and the owner always teases me about the Stones. He thinks Keith is just silly nowadays. Alwasy quotes from an interview he read "Man, I carry a knife and I ain't afraid to use it on the geezer.." is a line Keith used recently. and it's true. stuff like that sounds ridiculous today coming from him.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

No, I like his drunk ass making-jokes-that-are-so-bad-they're-funny attitude at interviews.
