Stones Tickets are not overpriced!
Posted by: Montrealsuperfan ()

Madonna tix went on sale in Montreal yesterday. Same top ticket price for the Stones in the same venue ($350).

If Madonna is worth $350 a ticket, I don't think anyone can say the Stones are overpriced at the same amount.

Yes, maybe Stones tickets are cheap!

I told you that the stones would raise the bar regarding ticket prices.

Agree, if you consider that they are set to fill half the audience capacity of a stadium.

I was thinking about this the other day. If it is true that so many people think the Stones tickets are too expensive then may be it is our luck! Lots of empty stadiums, and for the next tour we can have cheap tickets at arena size venues because most people don't want to see the Stons anymore. Dream on!

Let's see: you go for a shirt to the most famous designer's shop and they ask you $5,000 for it. The shop next door sells shirts featured by another top designer, perhaps not so great as the first one, but top designer nonetheless, and they ask you another $5,000 per shirt. Then, following your example, the first shirt is not overpriced...

$350 for a ticket is @#$%& insane, despite being the Stones or Madonna, mate

I was kidding as I suppose you too. Stones are made for Stadiums.

Stones have mission to play for all fans, that's why they choose the biggest venues!(stadiums)
They don't do it for the money.

Good point.

If the Stones were in it for the money they would sell off their songs to underwear and perfume manufacturing and jeans and MacDonalds and anyone else who wanted to make big bucks of a group that is now having their fan base with people in the 40's and 50's i.e. having money. And they would all be relaxing in Bahamas or Mostique rather than having to change hotels two tims per week away from home. It doesn't take to be into rocket science to understand that. They simply love being on the road...

The Stones were completely sold out in Montreal in the biggest hockey arena in North America (capacity for concerts 20,000). Madonna will be the same.

I'm not saying I agree with any of this but the facts are that the Stones tix are not overpriced when the other top acts appealing to the same demographic can charge the same price.

using that yardstick, thats as ludicrous an argument as saying @#$%& wasnt a bad guy because Stalin killed around the same number of people

two wrongs dont make a right

I have not the answer to the following : would adjusted prices have driven younger audiences, sold out stadiums quicker in Europe ?

Probably , but basic economic theory will tell you that if you are completely sold out everywhere, you're leaving money on the table.

Just the facts.

Beep! Wrong! Playing to all fans means offering prices all
fans can pay. I know at leat 10 (ten) people who would love
to see the Stones but simply can´t afford it.

No, of course not. LOL

The Eagles (imo) raised the bar on ticket prices.
I remember on the first reunion tour tickets were over 100usd.
After it was shown that people would pay that much to see a show, prices have been higher ever since.

in which case, surely they'd ditch all the uneccesary nonsense that they tag along with them. and the five of em, plus Bobby would jump on a tour bus and they could tour the theatre's / small arenas and charge the same price as everyone else. 20-30 quid a ticket

the real reason they charge so much is to pay the ridiculous amount of staff they emply on the road (IMHO)

you wouldn't be surprised to find each member had their own arse wiper and someone to pick out something for em to wear each day. which is obviously understandable as they have such a hard job ;o)

all those staff wages and endless limos (couldn't they all jump in one minibus?) add up and who ends up paying for em ?

you guessed right!

The ticket prices are fine but....

What is extortionate is the $100 excess they charge to book tickets for each venu in the presale, that stinks esp when Amex holders got to do it for free.

Not to mention the booking fee per ticket never in my life have I seen a £12 booking fee per ticket before.

The tickets are not overpriced before the customers quit buying tickets as a result of the expensive prices. As long as they sell out, they are not overpriced. Having said that, I think the prices are too expensive. Many people, or more important - many fans, can't afford to attend a concert with The Stones. It's also very hard to attend many shows on a tour, this is not the right way to treat the fans. I think it's sad to see businessmen sitting down in the first rows with the most expensive tickets and leave the arena before the show is over.

They are packed maybe but not "sold out". They just let people in for free.

Sorry Bjornulf, they have to be on the road because of the high costs for not working 5 or 6 years between tours, I dont even want to know what their monthly costs are for personnel taxes etc. etc. don't forget that topmodels don't come cheap these days as well.

Did I say there were free gigs? They let people in in Sapporo. No? Well if you bought a CD at Tower records.
