Favorite 1969 quote (and my favorite quote ever)

Jagger, greeted at 2 AM something by an exhausted crowd to start a five-hour-delayed show (I was not there, it is the legend...)

"We know it's a bit late, we hope you don't mind if we stay".

Arrogant and brilliant.

The Stones at the top of their game.

The line he gave at the second show of the night to the LA Forum crowd "We're sorry we're a bit late.....we would have brought our toothbrushes if we'd a known" is a better one IMHO. I went to the first show (that got out at 2 am) and a friend went to the second one (got out at sunrise) and taped it....have a copy somewhere around.......

9 years later...the great Ft. Worth quote - "if the band is lacking in energy...." and if you don't know the rest, then you aren't as big a fan as you think.....

also from 1978 (Passaic I think) - Mick says something like "hope you didn't have to pay too much to get in - we didn't pay a @#$%& thing"

love that tour - very loose and guitars upfront, Mick in beligerant mood (probably just an act though) and even Miss You sounds great

Andy

"We've come here to have a good time.....I don't know how much you had to pay for the f*cking tickets, but I didn't have to pay much......Oh you know what can I..."(interrupted by Keith's intro of "All Down The Line")

I knew that one, but did you know that even though it comes from a bootleg, the line is actually overdubbed?

What he really said was "If the band is lacking in energy, it's because we was up all night calculating our percentage from semi-official Stones compilations issued in Bulgaria. At least I was. Keith and Woody were just snorting lines as usual."
