You guys are the greatest! Thank you all so much for your nice thoughts.
I was so surprised and touched to see this thread (so an extra special thank you to MicksBrain!)

Like Miss U's grandfather, my grandmother lived a long, happy and fun life, although her last few years weren't so good (alzheimer's is no vacation), so she really is in a better place. I hope to be as lucky. Miss U, my deepest sympathies to you for the loss of your grandfather.

Here is the sweetest photo I took of my grandmother last year with my son on one of her last good days. It makes me smile everytime I see it.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Cindy that is a lovely pic.

Your son is a little cutie.

There is not much I can add to the above wishes but I always liked this poem,

I Did Not Die

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there,
I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle Autumn’s rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush.
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.

I am not there,
I did not die.

I always think they will never really be gone as long as they are in our hearts.

Maxx - that is a nice poem. The beginning of it reminds me of "he is not dead, he doth not sleep". Now where have I heard that before?;-)

Thanks for taking the time to type that out.

Dr. Pete - I've never heard of an Oma & Opa before. Which nationality uses that one? I've heard Nana, Nonni, Granny, Grammy, MaMere, Mima, but never Oma. That's cute. And I'm glad all of you remember your grandparents! We have some good people on this board.

Rooster - yeah, you would've like her. She was so funny, but half the time she didn't know she was, it was cute. My sister wrote and read the Eulogy at the funeral mass. The priest was laughing the loudest at the stories she told.

No Problem CindyC, Hope it made you feel a little better (Death is just one of life's little horrible twists that gets thrown at us - and I've had my fair share). You and Lukester were so nice when I first came on board - you're one of the good eggs around...hope you're doing alright. MB

CindyC and MissU,

I'm so very sorry for your losses. The photo of your Grandmother, Cindy, has reminded me of the closeness I enjoyed with my Grandmother. When she passed away a few years ago at age 93, I learned that it is not any less painful to deal with the loss of someone who is so close because of their age. I hope that time will help ease the pain for both of you.

Rick
