Hey Rooster - Don't let's the bastards get you down. Go listen to Til The Next Goodbye. Mick's vocals are great on that song.

dear shaky: read the last two or so paragraphs heeyah, and now it's an On Topic stones thread...

lots of moose in northern new hampshire white mountain national forest, north of franconia notch... freeway signs listing how many deaths from cars hitting 'em, totalling the cars, and the peeps in 'em...

i'm in nashville now tho; lots of deer and hawks and stuff...

but them moosies... they are confident and calm when u come across them...
young ones are cute and precious... they will even go nose to nose with a housecat for a gentle sniff...seen it...with an adult female...
but they are afraid of NOTHING...at least the bulls...

in my experience, they will not move for you; if you are on a road where they are feeding or standing...

when i was younger and even dumber, i honked at a big bull on a dirt backroad... he totally ignored it... i revved the engine and honked again...man, i was gonna impress my girlfriend...and we were on that dirt backroad with a destination and a real good reason, ahem...

...so i revved...honked...and pulled up a little closer to show my big V8 and manliness in the face of nature... very calmly, but now taking notice, he turned around, exhaled and shot me a look i immediately understood...
...backed the hell up and got outta there... they will charge if you piss them off and kill your car and everyone in it...
rutting season and all that... they know very well how to rack you up with that rack and they weigh half a ton or more... bigger than bigass horses...

could not blame him... they ain't makin' a fuss when i'm eatin'...
and me and Amber eventually stopped elsewhere for a...talk.

but i never drove so fast in reverse in my life...and on a very narrow dirt road; message was oh so clear...

two moose seasons in NH: one in Spring... i hear they are very tasty...
but i like 'em up, around, alive and kickin'... that said, if served, i'd certainly chowder down....

as for OT controversy...heck...

i see a red door and i want it painted moose
no colors anymore i went them to turn moose
i see the girls go by dressed in their summer moose
forget brown sugar one night instead play let it loose...

now it's a setlist thread...
everybody join in!?
animal references in great rock songs...
not just 'animal' like the MC5 song or others...
but songs that name animals...

best friend he shoots water rats and feeds 'em to his meese...
etc... or am i just one of your cocks?

On the subject of elk, I was shocked to read that the Lewis and Clark party ate nothing but elk...for months! Nothing but elk...oh the ramifications of that!

Well, Erik; I reckon ya got too few elks over at Norway.
I would be scared if I didnt meet an elk while out walkin'...

......Seriously; bein' a little too close and not being prepared
may be scary. Glad it wasnt a flock of wolves or a bear, though!

Yeah; it's cool countries with much fine, if not untouched still
quite undestroyed nature. Still cultivated though;
and we dont have to be as careful with paper as many other
nations. It grows on the trees you know.

Posted before, but... We live just beneath this hill.

Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here,
we was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road.
All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon... in the middle... of the road.
And he said:
"Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul." (soul)
Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other,
and we each said... "Okay."
And we played the first thing that came to our heads,
Just so happened to be,
The Best Song in the World, it was The Best Song in the World...

Good news Erik! The Elk is vegetarian. You are "live" meat and he will not kill you for food. But if you mess with his/her kid then you will be in trouble. With all the snow now in especially the South of Norway, more than 2 feet for weeks, they go to the places people live to find food, so just throw them 100 kg of grass and you will be fine.

This morning, I walked out of the house, and 2 huge elks were just outside the door! I was about to go back inside, but then they walked fast into my garden.
So, I made it to the car. They were standing among the rasperry-plants, as I drove away. Hope it's allright to share today's elk story.
Any kangoroo-storys from Australia, Rockman?
