According to the website [stonesnews.com], it says according to a reliable but unofficial source, the Stones will be doing more shows in the US next fall to wrap up the tour.

Do you guys think this is true. Will they play the typical venues, or suprise everyone and play gigs you wouldn't expect. What do you guys think?

not expecting much else.

It says 18 tour dates though?? They can't repeat the same venues over and over...night after night. It's not the stones style.

well, they repeat the same songs over and over, so why not the same venues?

probably major markets for the most part.

The thing is that, whilst it would be hard to sell out, say 5 shows at MSG in 10 days because of the high ticket prices, they find it easier to sell out multiple nights in one city if they play there every few months or so.

It gives people more time to save money between each visit. The MSG shows in january would have taken a lot longer to sell had they taken place with the other NY shows last September

Its only speculation at the minute but its been strongly rumoured from good sources for a few months now that they plan a return for another short run in North America later in 2006

I have some ambivilance about extending the tour well past a year because it probably means a longer wait until the next album, if there is one. Licks was long though, 14 months?, and they were back in less than 2 years, even w/ "Alfie" (which I doubt took TOO much out of Mick).

Too early to tell. Its all speculation at this point, I suppose

I see your point but,I'll take live Stones shows where I can get them at this stage.Also,the faster they return,the more obligated they probably will feel to come up with a different set list.If they wait until 2008,2009,or 2012 I think they would be more likely to play alot of the songs they played on this tour.What about Buffalo,Indianapolis,New Orleans,Long Island,San Jose etc.?

Maybe but,depending on what part of the fall we're talking about,it could start getting cold in Mass.,Chicago,and New Jersey.

18 shows could be done in 6 weeks, so if they start by the 2nd or 3rd week of September, they can be done by the end of October/beginning of November. I doubt they will do stadiums, but I could picture them starting again in the Northeast and working west, perhaps ending with a return to the Hollywood Bowl. I don't see Staples Center being used if they return to L.A. for all the same reasons it was not used earlier on this tour.

Theyd take at least a month off after Europe - which may still yet get extra shows (no Stones tour of Europe that I can remember hasnt ended up being extended)..the US already is getting 25-30 more shows than Europe, so you never know

They need to do at least one club show on each coast.

they need to do several club shows and a few arena shows in the non-US markets first!

Europe got some Voodoo Lounge club shows which the U.S. didn't get.

I think theyve made up for that discrepancy by now!

It's going to Happen after the 1st of the year. Just like No security followed the end of BTB. It will be a minnie tour of the same and they will be using the Stage that was used at the Superbowl. This is going to be awesome.

I'm thinking they will take a break after Asia and Europe and possibly not come back to the US until Spring of 2007.

I'm going to guess that it will end up being more than 18 gigs total. I would expect mostly major markets with a few "fill-ins" of cities not hit during the first 2 legs... Kansas City would be high on my list of towns they missed, Cleveland makes sense too.

The Gund Arena in Cleveland backed out in 2005, so I don't see them playing there later this year. Many other US arenas they've played in the past backed out. Refused to pay Colh's guarantee.

Stonesdoug mentioned on Shidoobee that several of the rumoured 18 shows will take place in college towns.

better to ignore your post. on all recent tours they had planned to do fall dates in the US at the end and they pulled out for different reasons (Mick's voice for one)....I assume, health prevailing, that its' a no-brainer they will do a final US leg this time.

The Palace of Auburn Hills (Detroit), HP Pavilion (San Jose), Oakland Arena, Staples Center (LA), Anaheim Pond...
