So how do parents explain such openness to their young children? Is it tolerated? Is it condemned?

Over here in the States, most companies drug test their employees, and if you report any kind of injury they send you immediately to the clinic for a drug test.

Thank goodness not every country is as close-minded and oppressive as the U.S. (and yes, I was born in and still live in the U.S.). I imagine drugs are explained to children over there the same way we explain alcohol to kids - it's something you shouldn't do until you're an adult, if then, and then only in moderation.

So there in the US you're not the owners of your weekends or spare time, for example? I mean, if want to smoke a joint saturday night you can't do it because of the risk of it being detected in a drug test at the bank you work from mondays to fridays??

I kid you not, even corner store gas station chains do it. I lady I know who works at store said she got something in her eye and had to go to get it flushed and they sent her for a drug test first. This is a nickel and dime job.

Now some companies are starting to test workers for cigarette use and firing them even if they smoke in the privacy of their own home only.

yes its legal, and it has no long term affects on your brain or lungs either.

two months ago I had bought some to send it to my friends abroad. my schoolbag was open during a break and when I returned to teach I had to rush to open the bloody windows, because the stench had become unbearable.....
I always have it vacuum sealed at my local butcher. Such an attentive person !

Fortunately not all employers drug test. The majority don't, as a matter of fact, but way too many do.

for all intents and purposes it's "legal" in most of California. I'm not much into it myself, but you can pretty much openly smoke a j at a concert, for instance, without a hassle. if security gets involved at all, it's more than likely it'll be to offer a light....

Talking about Amsterdam again : beware of bicycles when you cross the street !!!

How about prostitution?

If you go, theres a coffee shop called Homegrown Fantasy that has the best hot chocolate I've ever had in my whole life! Seriously, it was out of this world. My friends all thought I was exaggerating, so the next time we all went back, I took them, and then they were believers. I know you don't go to Amsterdam for Hot Chocolate, but it's worth stopping in for it.

Also, not only can you buy the weed there at these places in bags, you can buy the joints ready-made. Big ones too, Keef size in fact. However if they ask if you want to have them mix it with a little tobacco, I recommend saying no. I did the first time because I wasn't sure how strong the stuff would be my first time there, and I barely got stoned. The next time I went, I didn't make that same mistake and it was much much better.

I don't remember what kind I ordered off the menu, but the description was "gets you REALLY REALLY REALLY high.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Not only Amsterdam you can get your stuff.

In Den Haag (The Hague) you got a Coffee Shop named "Sticky Fingers" that's a HOT name.

Not For Me of course.

I visit Amsterdam every year. Smoking pot walking down the street is not a good idea. Coffeeshops are abundant, so fire up there or out in the open at Vondelpark
north of the Leidseplein.

This a magnificent city rich in culture with a ton of beautiful women. No fatties anywhere!

The Banana bar was a fine memory. The last guy in the line on stage had his head forced into the rhubarb by the maid's hand.
