Here are some more B-bender users who could have turned our boys on.

Page’s Tele was equipped with a Parsons/White StringBender, which Page had previously used to great effect on the beautiful, melodic, bent-note runs on Led Zeppelin’s classic ballad, “All My Love,” and live on “Ten Years Gone.”

Page had begun to use the StringBender on Zeppelin’s 1977 tour. Prior to that, he frequently bent notes behind the nut of his instruments with his fingers, as can be heard on the unaccompanied “Heartbreaker” solo on Led Zeppelin II and seen on the same number in the DVD of The Song Remains The Same.

Glaser;
Joe Glaser’s aforementioned unit, which is much more compact and pivots from the guitar’s neckplate, has been the choice of Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Ron Wood, Keith Richards, Brent Mason, Brad Paisley, whose setup operates the G string, and Diamond Rio’s Jimmy Olander, who prefers a Glaser double-bender, hooked up to the B and G.

HipShot, which operates with a lever at the base of the guitar’s body (against the player’s hip), is an option for players who don’t want to route their guitar; it’s endorsed by Will Ray of the Hellecasters. And Frank Reckard, who followed Albert Lee into Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band, had a custom-made unit attached to the back of his Les Paul Junior,

No, you weren't wrong.
On disc 2 of the Friday Night Videos Keith plays Ronnies red ESP b-bender Tele.
"Ronnie gave it to me, it must be good" he says.
So Ron must have started that.

way cool, Open-G honey! i'm so glad you got ahold of that interview. :E
i'd forgotten totally about a different b-bender on disk 2, since it developed hiccups and was refusing to play for me.
it must have been waiting for you to come along to appreciate it. :E

he couldn't get it in tune, while a strobe tuner is right behind him!

Not quite Mathijs,
they didn't have a tuner in the studio at the beginning of the interview.
Keith was fiddeling his brown Fender and said ""it was in tune when i bought it!" hehe.

The strobe is in the picture when Keith plays on Ron's red ESP.
Have you ever had a go at a B-bender?

Wood's ESP Signature Tele came about in 1984, and he immediatly requested one with a B-bender. He did already use a B-bender on either 1234 or Gimme Some Neck, I must say it's too long ago I played one of those albums so I forgot which.

I fiddled around with one, but too short to really get the hang of it. I am thinking of buying one soon though...but I also NEED a Tele with a Bigsby!

I actually never seen that footage of Keith and the B-bender, except for some screen shots.

I don't have all of Ronnie's stuff but now I'll have to check it.

Now that ebay Tele is rocketing sky high - for me anyway. $ 911.- one hour to go
I might try the less expensive version without doing big conversions to the guitar.

Not to burst your bubble, but if you're gonna get a b-bender,
get the Fender with the Parsons/Green. Forget the Hipshots and all that.
If you're gonna do it right, you may as well get the right one.
Are you in the states? Try Gruhn Guitars in Nashville.
They may have a used one there. I'm assuming you've played one already.
I got mine in Nashville while I was on vacation and had them ship it to me in LA.
If Gruhn doesn't have them, ask them if there's another music store
in NAshville that does. I know a few do, but I can't remember their names.

I guess your're right, Tom.
I should go for the Parsons/Green bender and nothing else.
problem is - I'm in Germany - no way to get my hands on 1 around here. It's tough enough in the US, innit.
Maybe the Frankfurt music fair, end of march, is an option.

and no, I've never played one but i'm pretty sure it's the right thing for me

wow - a new Duesenberg Multibender is being marketed.
It's the first one they're builing as a replacement bridge for Strats.
I'm sure they'll make one for Telecasters prtty soon.
thats a good thing and the price is very reasonable - check it out.
...and have a look at the video clips

Hi OpenG, I have never played a Bender and to be honest am still not exactly sure what it does. Why is bending only the Bstring so special?

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

The idea was to get the feel of those pedal steel licks. It works just like a pedal does.
Normal opposed bending [bending one string whilst sounding another string unbent] is the way that guitarists usually do it. The B Bender and Hipshot devices give another dimension and extend the range of possibilities. ;^)

My guess is that the SC in bridge on the black ESP have been replaced by a HB at some time, and that explain why only the neck-HB is covered?
