Actually I do read minds NICOS, and let me tell you, I've had some good readings coming from your mind in recent days. (joking) Hey Happy Birthday...and, again, you are quite the daughter factory.

LOL!!! The daughter factory!!! Best mickname EVER!!! You actually stole that thread, with that picture of you and your daughter's!
Paint It Black has the biggest Brian Jones influence; I don't really know about Midnight Rambler, I think that's Keith's all the way through...
"got to be worked on don't have no bark nor bite..."
Now I wonder about the term 'influence'. The 2 songs that I see as definitely Brian are Can't Be Satisfied & Little Red Rooster. I can see him saying 'alright here's a song & we're doing it this way' (particularly on CBS). But did he have an influence on the other songs in the same way or was it more of Mick & Keith coming up with something & seeing what Brian could do with it.
Which reminds me, isn't there something about Bill talking about Paint it Black & how it evolved, can't quite remember if I've read this or was told or what.

Hey CindyC. Keith mentioned in Rolling Stone magazine in 1981 that he thinks of Brian whenever they play Time Is On My Side, or when he plays Brian's licks from Mona. As far as the title of the thread goes, I was assuming that we list songs that Brian has a significant role in like PIB? MISS U lists Satisfaction, where Brian only plays acoustic guitar and he's not on HTW. Were these songs influenced by Brian perhaps?
I think the acoustic on Satisfaction is Keith, not Brian. Brian played harmonica on an early version (available on bootleg) but the released version does not feature Brian.
I personally think that Brian's biggest influence wasn't all the instruments he added. Of course he was encreddibly talented to be able to play all these instruments, but it's only additions on songs written by others. It's much the same as Taylor: a brilliant guitar player, but not a main influence on the songs Keith and Mick wrote. Take the miramba on Under My Thumb: a great part, but it could have been played with any instrument, by any player. The fact that Jagger/Richards wrote the song is the genius part of it, Brian doesn't make the song.
I think Brian's most valuable influence was his sheer attitude, which was much more punk than pop. The best example is Not Fade Away from the NME pollwinners gig. Brian IS the Stones here. The way he aggessively attacks the encredible harp, the way he dances, shouts and screams: he is the true original body and soul of the Stones.

Does anybody have a vid online of the Not Fade Away at the Pollwinners?
i wish i did have it on line to share with the whole wide world - their 64 NME set is so ferocious! one of my all-time favourite pieces of Stones footage.

Oooh DGA, you made me very sad just now. I had that issue for the longest time, and I somehow lost it over the years, which bums me out so badly! There was a really great picture of Keith and Patti that I always loved. One of them has leather pants on, and they both have eyeliner, and they just look so cool!
Do you have the issue still? If so, could you scan it perhaps.
Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.
The issue is the one with Keith on the cover, mostly just his head. Can't recall the pictures inside, though. I must have the issue somewhere, although it's probably been 20 years since I last saw it so I don't have a clue where it could be. Probably in a box in my parent's attic. Back in the early 80's when I was in high school, I used to buy every Circus, Hit Parader and Cream magazine, along with the occasional Rolling Stone.

Yeah, that's the one. It had an interview with Kurt Loder, and Keith's big quote was something like "Love wears a white Stetson".
