"Send It To Me"

One of those forgotten tracks. And probably rightfully so. It is not that good, or at least not that special in any way. Does anyone else hear "Neighbors" in it? Or actually viceversa? basically same chord progression? And although it leans much more towrads reggae it also has the feel of "beast of Burden' IMO. The structure of the song is the same. There is the basic verse, right? then a short bridge opens it up with harmonies and melodically. back to the vamp. Short high solo. Then it goes into the root chord with Jagger doing his slapback effected shouting chant. (She could be Blueberry-an...).
Emotional Rescue" begins that brief line of albums that were never played out much. "UC and DW" follow later on.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

"Send It to Me" and "Let Me Go" are two of my desert island stones songs

I've always liked Send It To Me. One of my favorites on Emotional Rescue, although I'm not sure why. Not exactly a classic by any means, but there's something there. A nice rock & reggae groove.

I can hear Neighbours and Beast Of Burden in it now that you mention it. It's a similar chord progression. If there is any song on ER I absolutely cannot stand it's Where the Boys Go. Especially when the female vocals kick in at the end. To me, it's almost embarassing that this song made it on the album.

How did unreleased outtakes such as We Had It All, Let's Go Steady Again, I Think I'm Going Mad, and even Dancing Girls get passed up for Where the Boys Go? It boggles the mind. What an incredible album ER could have been with these songs on it.

Listen to Send It To Me with headphones. Some great reggae rhythm licks in there.

Keith plays a backbeat on his guitar.

That man is a drummer on the guitar. Irie!

I've always seen this like the reggea version of under my thumb.

I think that keith should have sung it, it would have been an instant classic.

i like neither "Send It to Me" nor "Let Me Go"! For me one of the weaker tracks on ER - my favourites songs on ER are She´s so cold, the title track, Summer Romance, Down in the hole, all about you! "Do you think I really care" i like a lot, but it reminds me a lot of Faraway eyes!

That is so true about the left-off tracks from that era. "Some Girls" is already an incredible album, but ER could have been so much stronger. And they did have a lot of great tunes laying around. Deg01 and BerberJMan mention the good ones.

A definite all-time low for the Stones. The childish lyrics rank among their worst.

Yeah it's quite funny that it is the exact same chords as "Neighbors".

And it goes the same way as Neighbours too. It's reggae-neighbours.

Do You Think I Really Care, although a very nice song, is a Some Girls outtake. I was referring specifically to the Emotional Rescue sessions.

But yes, this song would have added to ER, as would've 90% of all the Some Girls outtakes. To me, the following Some Girls session outtakes would stand on their own and could have been worthy additions on either Some Girls or Emotional Rescue:

1. Everlasting Is My Love
2. I Can't Help It (If I Love You Too Much)
3. You Win Again
4. No Spare Parts
5. Lucky In Love
6. Do You Think I Really Care?
7. You Married An Angel - Keith vocals

As well as these "almost-album-ready" songs as well:

1. I Need You - Keith vocals
2. Claudine
3. Fiji Jim
4. What Gives You the Right
5. Not the Way To Go
6. Never Make You Cry
7. A Different Kind
8. Never Let Her Go
9. The Way She Held My Hand (Misty Road)
