2 mixes of Let It Rock from Leeds

I was listening to the version of Let It Rock on Rarities. I guess that is the true stereo version because the horns are up in the mix. On my Leeds boot the horns cannot even be heard at all. I actually prefer the version on the boot where you can't even hear the horns. It sounds ballsier. Anyone notice this. Which version is better to you?

Its mono on Rarities...listen closely. Taken off the UK ep. True stereo can be found on many boots, and on the Spanish LP version of Sticky Fingers.

Best,

JR

Does the Spanish LP have the bloody fingers on the cover?

Yes, thats the one...severed fingers in the Treacle (molasses tin)....

Oh, I was thinking it was stereo. My bad. I guess it was just mixed differently.

I MUCH prefer the bootleg version with the long crowd intro where Mick, killing time whilst the band tunes, says, "Ya gonna spend the night with us?"

There's also a VERY anxious fellow yelling "Anything! Anything!" then "Let it rock!" which they then, of course, launch into (the end part heard on 'Rarities').

A much grittier, rocking version. Hate the horns on the "official" version.

He shouts "Paint It Black" "Paint It Black!".
We have had this discussion before, and nobody agreed with me.
But, I'm very certain, you have the evidence on the CD.
Could somebody please confirm this, or am I crazy? I'm absolutely sure, but everyone disagree.

Before reading anything about it that was my first impression. that is what my ears heard. Also, during that month long UK stint they always played it. They never played Paint It Black....why the guy yell it out...........oh wait the same can be said for the girl yelling it on the 69 tour.....well, anyway, I have listened to it countless times and I would even TRY to hear him yelling PIB. I never do. I just don't hear it. I hear LIR every single time.

We're not through with this yet!!
I will go to the 5th floor and get the CD, then listen to it before I go to sleep on the 4th floor. And sitting home, looking out the window, imagening the world has stopped.
Leonard, are we stark raving mad???

Is it rude to ask?
Gazza, could you please be the judge, if you got Leeds 1971 nearby?
Erik.

That is amazing!
If we had this discussion in a bar, we would probably start fighting....

Maybe just our ears would have it out. You would win. I can't fight.

He says "Let it rock!" not meaning the song, of course...it's just a funny coincidence...he's just some stoned-out dude who doesn't want to lose his buzz and wants the Stones to get ON with it.

I doubt he'd be yelling "Paint It, Black."

He sounds American...maybe the accent's throwing some of you?

I think he knows they were playing it next. They had played it at every show on that mini tour. I don't think it was coincidental.
Too much analysis here.

Oh well that's what makes this interesting.

I have listened to this song for over 25 years on bootlegs, lps, cds, the new rarities,

the guy in the left stereo channel, not mono on rarities ,CLEARLY yells "Paint It, Black", not Let It Rock. It almost sounds like Let It Rock, but the "P" in paint is so clear just before the song starts. But , listen to the bootleg versions, go back 20 seconds or so and he yells for Paint It Black then even clearer than before the song, he also yells out "anything" twice .

A fun debate though.

By the way, the old cd boot, Get Your Leeds Lungs Out has the concert in Mono.
the remastered cd, Leeds Revisited has the mono then the stereo version of Let It Rock as a bonus track. My Rarities CD is in wide stereo, but it's not the Starbucks version. Maybe Starbucks is Mono and Sam Goody is Stereo, I don't know, haven't opened the Starbucks CD yet.

After listening for the millionth time tonight I have to change my stance and agree that the guy is actually yelling PIB. This comes after hearing the crowd banter approx 1 minute before the song begins. The guy plainly yells out PIB several times. It is all clear to me now. I am man enough to admit when i am wrong and i was wrong. No more disputing on this end. It is PIB.

I guess this guy REALLY loved PIB

the reason for him yelling "Paint It Black" could be because of the Get Yer Ya Ya's Out album ?? When the girls says "Paint it black you devils"....I'd say he could be joking due to this ??

Thank you out of my head!
It takes a man, to admit that he was wrong.
And, of course, we wouldn't fight. I never do, and I'm not strong.
See you!
