Glenfiddich 15 year old Solera Reserve. Wow, where do I start? Super mellow with a smooth earthy touch. A glass of this liquid gold along with a Montecristo #2 and a good football game or a bootleg of a stones show and you can get a feel of what heaven must be like. I would love to replace the Montecristo with a Cuban Cohiba but....here in the states the gevernment doesn't trust us with products from Cuba. High ranking government officials and members of congress are allowed to possess 2 boxes...but us common folk...nope...not allowed.

I like Chivas, but would like to try some of the higher ends scotchs. I don't mind Cutty Sark or even some of the cheaper brands - Inver House, King George IV. Educate me on the good stuff, ya'll.

Laphroaig (you gotta love the name - pronounced La-FROYG) has been characterized by some as tasting like Jet Fuel....works for me! Luv the stuff.

by the by - has anyone tasted Dalmore's Cigar Malt? I'm a huge cigar afficianado (hey, one goes with the other)...I've reading up on this one. Dalmore's 12-year is a good one, but this one is supposedly especially nice with a fat one...

Meise - if I had to pick my favorite whisky (Irish or Scotch or any thing else) it would still probably be good ol' affordable and always delightful Jameson. I don't know anyone who doesn't like it who knows shite about the subject.

There's NO COMPARISON... you try to compare a very rare Bushmill's Irish Whisky to a great Scotch whiskey, any region, any age....

ONE of those whiskies is gonna come out on top almost every time....

ANd....

SURPRISE... it's the old rare bushmills!!!! You can't do better than a very rare Irish whiskey... wake up, world

Sorry Mattijs, please read this:
Alcohol made from grain (malted or not) which is produced in Scotland is called WHISKY while it is called WHISKEY if it is produced in USA or Ireland.

American whiskey is called Bourbon, and is made from grain (at least 51% corn (maize))
The Scotch whisky is generally double distilled (see how whisky is made), while Irish whiskey is generally distilled three times.

I dont actually like Whisky but have tried 50yo Bells and it was v nice, tasted more like a Brandy.

Most popular malt when I worked in a Bar was Highland Park.

Black Bottle for your everyday tipple sold well.

Ah the single malt ...yes thats a good one i like it!!! i love the J.W. Blue..... Cigars nice Monte#2....yes Opus x # 4 Cohiba Siglo iv or rubusto, Hoyo..D.C, Paratagas Serries D....R.J. corona....on and on....then put on Let it Bleed......Tre bene'
i love the Habanos......sucks that they are inconsistant these days....

Laphroag is lovely, so is Glenmoranjie.

My job takes me to some interesting places round the uk - recently did a job at the Glenmoranjie Distillery and was given a tour round all the archives they have - barrels of Whiskey 20, 30 ,40 years old and more.Fantastic place. There is a guy there whose JOB is to taste the WHiskeys from the barrels and he identifies which ones are to go for 'specail treatment' ..what a job eh 'professional fine whiskey taster'

they just dont have enough tobacco......i went to Havana 2 years ago...went to the partagas factory...they make all the #2 types there Bolivar, montes, Cohibas, Hoyas....and the Double coronas...as well..what a trip!! oh my god...talk about Cigars.....i stll have a bunch in my Hummidor from that trip...i think you really have to age the cubans at least 2 years before you smoke'em .
also rumor has it the cubans import tobacco from Honduros ..

That, to me, is a non-issue. I really don't care how you want to spell you're English -American or British. I prefer British, as it is somewhat closer to Dutch (for example "optimisation" instead of "optimization").
