Rolling Stones from 1980:

1st step : money
2nd step : personal egos
3rd step : more money

and finally ... the music

I'm actually waiting for the day when rs.com will try and market the sale of a dog turd with a Stones tongue on it

I wouldnt put it past them in all honesty, and it would probably be more visually appealing than some of the shirts they've been selling of late

Aint it great how they're so quick with bombarding you with this crap, but will keep you in the dark about less pressing matters such as ticket availability and the sudden disappearance of concert dates from the tour itinerary?

Would it be too much to ask, for subtle yet tasteful t-shirt designs,
for the European leg of the tour?

This Superbowl merchandise is embarassingly awful.
That "biggest bang" multi-coloured shirt (top left, design) is a monstrosity.

I like my Al Capone T-shirt from Chicago though

Indeed.
In Chicago people asked us (because they were amazed that we came to see the stones all away from Europe) if the Stones knew we were here. LOL.

What's a turd really? They can be on the run as we all know. But what is it? Can a dog turd with a Stones tongue also be on the run?

you're kidding me, right?

The Stones visit a city with a terrific musical heritage and rs.com choose to 'honour' the city with a t-shirt glorifying a mass murderer?

Christ, now I hope Dublin doesnt get rescheduled. God knows what tasteless 'chic apparel' they'll come up with

Dont think Whale jokes; myself (and I usually are
treated as one that manage to communicate fairly weill in
English) I have never reflected over the "turd" word,
but I googled it up & it seems like its
closely related to the word "crap", right?

Even you, Björnulf, have to admit this is tasteless:
What the @#$%& is the connection between this biz & the music?
"Street Fighting Man" - my @#$%& ss. We gotta be able to
ventilate some critical words every now & then, havent we?

don't slag off RS.com - they are probably reading this site.....

I have to agree with the Bro and Gazza. I am a lifelong hard, hardcore fan. No one in the world could ever doubt my cred when it comes to the Stones. And I don't doubt many of the "doubters" on this forum. But the Stones juggernaut has reached a new level. I am sure there are two very different units doing business here: the Stones, the muscial group who goes on tour, rocks on stage and still gets my rocks off. Even if I do have to complain about the setlists every now and then, it's all part of life and love with the Stones.
Then there is this Big Business Boardroom side of the Stones, that I hope the musicians themsleves might not even be that associated with. I just assume that they prefer to ignore it. This RS.com is a disgrace to the Stones' music. And we should be allowed to vent about that.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

At this rate, the Dublin t-shirt will be (disgraced former PM) Charles Haughey. With a Stones tongue. grinning smiley

Obv I'm hoping for something more tasteful...James Joyce or Molly Malone...

I like the apparel - very tastefull, subtle, elegant, stylish, smart, chic, attractive, exquisite and of course reasonably priced. I for sure will be buying the entire collection for my dog to wear.

I'm sure RS.COM are already planning limited edition,
London, tongue t-shirts, featuring The Krays and Jack The Ripper.

Someone just discovered you live in a capitalistic world? I remember going to Shea Stadium 1989 NYC. Even back then you could buy plenty of Stones merchandise. They jailed bootleg t-shirt sellers and chased them out of the venue. I have been buying a few hundred official tour t-shirts so this is nothing new. I stopped buying when they started to make special t-shirts in every city i went to. And when the pile is filling up everal rooms in your house then you realize it's just a big waste. But many people love the merchandise so I don't really care if they sell it. If it worries then I would assume you have too much time to spend on thinking about such things. Get something more interesting to worry about. Like global warming or world peace. That is my take on it.

I guess it's impossible for bv to say something even remotely negative on the Stones and their entourage. You're a good sport bv.

I wonder what it will be in Bergen?
My guess is....Henrik Ibsen!
Have you heard about him? He's often regarded as number 2, after Shakespeare.

Don't look, don't look, don't look...I agree with Bjornulf!! Try not to look!
And furthermore...I think turds and whales are running together recently.

You're right, ChelseaDrugstore. But i think is the whole rock and roll being of two natures, not only the phenomenon "Stones". Music + music industry. Passion + business. Both. Together, always. From the beginning. Sometimes the nostalgic mythology of R n'R make us forget the other side of the rock history. The pricing of the artists in Woodstock (first of all Hendrix, $18,000- a lot of money then...). The negotiations for the money in Monterey and Woodstock. Dylan exploited in 1969 even his road accident of 1966 selling very, very well (Wight Festival) his first performance after it. And many other facts which are proving that the "years of the innocence" were only a childish fairy- story...

Yes, ChelseaDrugstore, there are two very different units here. We are into the most important: the group who rocks on stage. @#$%& the other.

Maybe the RS Corp. would worry more about global warming
(I dont care so much there cause I see it as mainly a myth)
& starvation (no myth); and less about earning money.
