Child Of The Moon

Is this a great tune or what? Why they never did live is beyond me. Those that play music here is or would this be difficult to pull off correctly?

Out of list of songs never played live, this has got to be in top 3 or 4 of what people would want to hear i'd imagine.

Why has the tune kind of been lost, not a huge hit or on regular lp. Is it me or I'm just confused why hasn't been given greatness, or perhaps most feel as I do

Are there many here that think its just ok or poor? Now that would shock me. I know to each his own, but what would it be dislike about it?? MEZ

Odds they will play this tour or ever live? I'd put it only at 25% I'm not optimistic it'll see the stage. Any thoughts on song itself or my questions?? MEZ

One of the great 'unloved' Stones songs. A marvellous moody 'fuelled' song...yep, it's a classic.

Under the Radar is a "third cousin removed" of Child of the Moon ... I can definatley hear the 60's when I play Radar, and I hear the 2000's when I play Moon.

most Stones fans I know absolutely love it

its been lost simply because its a non-album b-side (back then, you didnt put your singles on albums)

Chances of it being played this tour or anytime in the future : slim , going on none

The Stones in 2006 play for a "40 licks" audience who only know about 12-15 of their songs well enough. They're too afraid too many of their audience might lose interest for four minutes while they play a 1968 b-side

I think I posted this a while ago, but what a great song it would be from the B-stage for an outdoor stadium show under a full moon...not to mention Moon Is Up or Moonlight Mile...

It is one of those tunes that is loved to death by verey Stones fan. Another one would be "Through the Lonely Nights". The two "lost" Bsides

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

The wind blows rain into my face,
The sun glows at the end of the highway.
Child of the moon, rub your rainy eyes.
Oh, child of the moon
Give me a wide-awake, crescent shaped smile.

She shivers, by the light she is hidden,
She flickers like a lamp lady vision.
Child of the moon, rub your rainy eyes.
Child of the moon
Give me a wide-awake, cresent-shaped smile.

The first car on the foggy road riding.
The last star for my lady is pining.
Oh, child of the moon, bid the sun arise.
Oh, child of the moon
Give me a misty day, pearly gray, silver, silky faced, wide-awake,
Crescent-shaped smile.

if they think they're not getting a proper recognition reaction from Sway, what on earth would make anyone believe they'd unearth a song like this for the live act?

This song kept me sane. My daughter was born 3 months early and in the ICU for three months. It was awful scary. I used to sing this song to her when I got to hold her. Kinda became our song. Long story short besides a vision problem she's a healthy 2 year old now. This song will always have a special place in my heart.

sorry. It's all good now. Seen alot of parents come in for a few days and then never come back. They told us 8 of every 10 babies they get in there would ever make it home. It was a pretty accurate figure.

sure - yeah, I get that - but now I won't be able to listen to one of my favorite Stones songs without thinking about you and sobbing uncontrollably!

Good story, JJ. The power of song to an infant, even to an unborn child has a bonding effect. It is entirely possible the singing helped your little girl pull through the ordeal.
