Latest rumour though unclear whether they will play together or perform different sets. Don't laugh, remember Justin Timberlake?

All other acts are pre-game acts. The stones will play for 12 minutes at half time.

Kanye may be there for the pre-game show but there is no way The Stones would let that imbecile join them on stage at half-time. Stevie is the only one that has any hope of that. ANd that is beacuse of his status and history with the Stones. Stevie W is a talented class act. Kaynye West is a buffoooon.

I'd rather have ferrante on stage than K.West.

I'd rather have tatoo from Fantasy Island than Justin Timberlake. But Kanye West is actually not too bad. I only know that one song that rips off Ray Charles but the video is pretty sexy. Of course I prefer the Stones by themselves (Lisa would be cool!)

I heard The Stones had 20 minutes then I also heard 12 minutes. Does any one really know how much time tehy will have???

Hopefully they won't get interrupted by a commercial break. The SUperbowl time is so valueable I don't think they cna go 20 or even 12 minutes without a commercial and what if they cut right into a song (like that silly Music Awards cut inot IORR)?????

They won't cut any songs. They are playing for 12 minutes the whole halftime is usually 20 minutes extended to 30 for Super Bowl it will take time to bring everything and everybody on and off field - no more than 12 minutes of actual stones music.

Just curious to know how old you are, bigfrankie. I get the distinct impression that most of the posters on this board are over forty (which only seems appropriate, given the demographic that I see at Stones concerts).

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I sometimes think that posters' ages lead them to make unfair judgments on current popular music (such as yours on Kanye West). Correct me if I'm wrong.

And, for the record, I am 27 and don't want to see ANYONE else on stage with the Stones. But I wouldn't be shocked; I don't think that the Stones have as much control over the halftime show as people seem to think. The NFL is much bigger business than the Stones...

i'm already committed to not watch the Stones next Sunday. This latest rumor has NO effect on my plans.

Kanye West will come on stage and say George Bush doesn't care about black people, then Mick will say "I care about black people. Wrote a song about it, like to hear it? Here it goes." Then they will play Brown Sugar, followed by a rap duet/extended dance mix of Sweet Neocon with Mick and Kanye both rapping and Keith scratching away on the turntables. Wheels of steel, steel wheels, that sort of thing.

Well, by having Kanye West onstage the Stones will be "crossing over" and appealing to the younger rap audience, correct ??

Why couldn't they have Beyonce on stage with the stones... Mick could whip her during Midnite Rambler, that would be hot.

No, Kanye and Stevie will apparently be part of the pre-show, not the halftime show...

Having Timberlake really helped with that 'cross over' to teen pop fans...NOT.
12 minutes is insulting, but crucial for the Stones to be ready with a hot new song - announced, "This is from out new album, A Bigger Bang - and something hot but not too warhorsey, like Night Time Is the Right Time, and perhaps a closing JJF. I do sort of dread this event, & wish the band did a televised concert instead to promote the album.

Hey Tree. You are correct with the assumption that I am over 40. I can't speak for anyone else but here's my 2 cents on some of the younger artists.I've had a good dose of current/ newer artist via my kids who are close to your age group. So I'm not just lobbing bombs.

I admit Kanye West is far from the worst out there. Buts tahts not saying much.

A huge percentage of the newer artists can not do a combination of the following: sing, play any instrument well or at all, write a song of any substance or at all, perform live

It becomes obvious with any live performance.

Beyonce is talented. So are Alicia Keys and Nora Jones. Having said that, virtually all of the Hip-Hop guys or newer R&R guys fall into the catagory that I descrived above.

I am 30 years old so not everyone on here is over 40 so if anyone is keeping a tally of people's ages on here, you can write down a 30 yr old posts on here all the time...

I read the article that was posted earlier in this thread from the website link posted and my interpretation of that article is that Kanye will play his own set during the Super Bowl pregame while the Stones will play their own set during 1/2 time...

I doubt the Stones will have any special guests onstage, due to the fact they only have a supposed 12 minute set, they really do not need to have anyone join them up on the stage, their legacy speaks for itself....

I am really looking fwd to next Sunday, should be fun...

Yes, to people on this board, it does. But does it speak to the youth demographic that advertisers (who pay the NFL SO much for time) covet? I don't know, I think they would rather hear Kanye or Beyonce (although, of course, I do not share the sentiment)...

Best post made on the thread!

One more reason this gig is going to blow more than the Days of Our Lives fiasco. With that idiot, I'll be switching the channel.

As much as I would hope that doesn't happen,it would not surprise me.Mick always seems to get the "hip" artist of the moment when they do stuff like this.Dave Mathews for example.I don't know why they feel they need to prove their hipness with the world,or that they are not behind the times.Go out play 4 kick ass rock and roll tunes and thats it.IMO.

That's hilarious. I can see it now. The Stones would be playing some warhorse, and Ferrante would be rapping "Play Beast of Burden!! Play neocon or you're a bunch of pussies." It would be fun.

Yes, ha-ha! And he'd shout "HELTER SKELTER" in-between songs. And when the show was over he'd take Mick's microphone and shout "BUFFOOOOOONS!!". And people would storm the stage, and all hell would break loose.
