Flip The Switch live

Anybody think the boys will play this gem ever again? I'm listening to it right now and I'm remembering how much this song kicks ass. I wasn't at any of the Bridges to Babylon shows but they seem to really enjoy playing it on the DVD. I think this is definitely a song to consider playing again.

Oh yes, I remember Bobby's sax got the ground shake.

Definitely a highlight of the 97/98 tour.

Great great song. I was lucky to be at the show they played it first time ever in Charlotte 1997. And they did an outstanding best ever version in Moscow 1998 that I will never never forget. Great guitar startup by Keith and missing it a lot. But we can't have them all I know...

at the risk of being negative (hey - gotta keep up/down my reputation!) - it's really the last great riff the riffmaster has come up with....

T&A, I was recently discussing that FLIP THE SWITCH was Keith's last true "riff". That's what missing to me when I listen to ABB. ROUGH JUSTICE is about it. Seen them twice on the current tour, Keith was on fire both nights, just hope if, and when we get a new CD he will be back(with the riffs).

There's a riff in RJ? I'll have to listen more carefully next time...

Flip is just a fukkkin weak song live. Boring. Never kicked ass. To me Raw Justice is much more powerful.

I admit,ROUGH JUSTICE was about as close as a riff that we got this time around.

I thought Flip the Switch had a great riff but it got buried under massive overproduction.

Lame and unfinished on BTB, but got that sorely missed swing live. Not good enough to be in the setlist when they have so many rockers to choose from IMO.

Saw the tour, never cared for the song, live or studio. Rough Justice, now that's kickin'.

It ended up very well on No Security and especially the BTB offical DVD.

Keith is just filling the song with his guitar work, leaving no space to breath. I love it.

But I can imagine RJ works a little better live, live in the sense "when you're there".

But would you agree that it's good that he Stones seem to move away from the riffs these years? They sorta make albums with no real riffs IMO, and it's cool because:
1 - It's a develpment in the songwriting.
2 - It shows that they can kick ass just as hard, without any riffs.

From ABB:

She Saw Me Coming
Rain Fall Down
Drivin' Too Fast
Infamy
Look What The Cat Dragged In
It Won't Take Long
Sweet Neo Con

Looks riff-based to me.

The best songs without a riff on ABB are IMO:

This Place Is Empty
Let Me Down Slow

Yes. Riff based in a way. It's nothing like JJF or BS though. The closest you come to those kinds of riffs is perhaps IWTL and DTF (SMOKING song btw).

I would have included She Saw Me Coming also. The song is different in a way, but IMO Keith came up with a classic riff, making The Stones sound different at the same time.

Yeah. It's kindda like "Crackin' Up"..... Bo Diddley riff.

the riff in SSMC is classic Ronnie, IMO.
