Anyone know what the odds are. Here are the odds for U2 back in 03:

U2 Superbowl Setlist Odds
Posted on Tuesday, January 29 @ 23:20:21 CET by Macphisto writes "Bookmakers offer propositions on virtually every possible aspect of the Super bowl, but one offshore operation has broken new ground by betting on what song Irish rock band U2 will open their halftime show with.

Curacao-based VIPsports (www.vipsports.com) makes last year's song of the year "Beautiful Day" the 2-1 Favorite ahead of the second single from their latest album, "Elevation" at 7-2.

"Where the Streets Have No Name" is a widely fancied third pick at 5-1, with "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and "Desire" on the fourth line at 6-1.

"Pride (In the Name of Love)" is rated an 8-1 chance, "Until the End of the World" is at 12-1, with "The Fly" (20-1), "Stuck in a Moment" (20-1) and "New Year's Day" (25-1), all rated outsiders.

The field (any other song) is quoted at 7-5.

U2 will perform three songs in their halftime show, which will be televised live on Sky Sports

I don't think the lyrics of Rough Justice will be approved.JJF,SMU,BS,S,& YGMR are the most likely in my opinion with one ABB song & one surprise if we are extremely lucky.3 or 4 total songs.

Dancers for the show are being asked to send in requests for tickets. You must be over 18 and under 45 to be eligible... they don't want any old geezers dancing around!

Start Me Up
Tumbling Dice
It's Only Rock and Roll
Night Time Is the Right Time

or...

You Can't Always Get What You Want
Tumbling Dice
Satisfaction
Start Me Up

I think they will play it safe. The Stones do not have much to lose by their appearance but they could have loads to gain if they do it right, new never goes down right. It's too unfamiliar.

What could they have to gain?

I don't think they would play "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" just because they're in Detroit. When they played at The Joint in Las Vegas last tour, it would have been a perfect spot to play "Rip This Joint" but they didn't play it. I think the setlist will be:

Start Me Up
Rough Justice
Brown Sugar

Re: Superbowl Setlist Predictions

Start Me Up
Miss You
Satisfaction

They will open with SMU and finish with Satisfaction. Take that to the bank. Why? Most people are familiar with these songs. Miss You because they seem to think that people like to dance to it and it has a nice beat. It was also a hit for them in 1978. Playing familiar songs is what Mick seems to think people want to hear, hence, the somewhat boring and repetitive set list we have seen on their current tour..
If they perform four songs as did McCartney last year(I am pretty sue he did four songs), we may get a new song. RJ is a logical choice, but ya never know. JJ Flash could figure into the equation somewhere.

MCparty- No thanks on the Britney Spears tickets. Not interested.

Start Me Up.
Brown Sugar.
Jumping Jack Flash.
Satisfaction.

Maybe a new song in there too. But these are the all-time classics. The way it should be too by the way.

I don't think they will play Ain't Too Proud To Beg, for two reasons.
1, they already played it at Comerica Park in August.
2, they are not only performing for Detroit, but for 70 million TV viewers, who are football fans but maybe not fans of Motown hits.

Wouldn't it be great if they played just a new song (Rough Justice?) and Midnight Rambler?

I'd love it!

From a report I read about a month ago, "Motown Music Insiders" were displeased that a Detroit based band was not selected for the Halftime show. It was considered an insult because of Detroit's rich music tradition.

This was my logic in thinking "ASin't Too Proud to Beg" would be performed.

Actually a Four Tops hit would be better though.

My prediction is the same 3 songs that they did at the press conference in May.

There has to be a slow number in the set since they lifted the age limit.
Old people need to rest.

There's hardly a song that doesn't need censoring in any way.

1. Start me up. "You make a dead man BLEEEEP".
2. Rough justice. "Now I'm just one of your BLEEEEPS".
2. ONNYA. "Staring at your BLEEEEPS".
3. Brown Sugar "Get down on your knees, brown sugar, how BLEEP you taste so good" winking smiley (and the slavery thing, too).
3. HTW "I BLEEEPED a divorcee in NYC".

Satisfaction of course, has a dubious tone. YCAGWYW doesn't suit the event. Angie would do, but people might fall asleep. Rain Fell Down has already been on the telly (and HOW) and is depressing for the event. YGMR is great, but will people know it? SFM and Gimme Shelter do not belong to the current repertoire.

This means the only acceptable setlist seems to be:
1. JJF
2. Tumbling Dice
3. IORR

Miss You (w/ some 20 something guest vocalist)

Satisfaction

Start Me Up
Brown Sugar
Satisfaction

Hoh hum. How boring! Maybe Rain Fall Down or Rough Justice in addition. It will never be more than one ABB tune. We'll be lucky to get one.

Although this is the Stones time on stage, don't be surprised to see a special guest on stage or a motown cover, may be Ain't too Proud to Beg.

I think it sucks the Stones are playing half-time at the Super Bowl, it's so far beneath them and commercially shameful. And as for setlist predictions, are you kidding me? It's gonna be Start Me Up, Jumping Jack Flash & either Brown Sugar or Sympathy. Does anyone actually think this is going to be an oppotunity they take to play some new songs or great B-sides or blues covers? Just look at the audience their playing to- And I love the Stones don't get me wrong but when I heard them playing Half-Time @ the Super Bowl I wanted to @#$%& puke.

They are advertising "Rain Fell Down". So my prediction is SMU, RFD and JJF. Very predictable as most shows are anyways.

They are going to do 4 songs. Macca did 4 songs ( Get Back, Drive My Car, Live and Let Die, Hey Jude).
1. Start Me Up
2. Rough Justice
3. Rain Fall Down
4. Jumping Jack Flash/Satisfaction

I am with mainvain. It is a disgarce that they're playing the Superbowl. Leave that to Aerosmith and Bon Jovi. Also agree with mainvain; no way they will play anything besides mega super warhorses. For some reason I can see them doing "Miss You". They like pulling that on eout for the huge occasions; maybe becuas everybody knows it and can sing along. Start me Up, Brown Sugar, Satisfaction. 4th choice Miss You. I think even the mighty Jumping Jack will be taking a break here.

They do the mega hits that they also have the least chance of screwing-up. Brown Sugar would be an automatic choice, but there is NO WAY they will do it becasue of the lyrics.

If they don't do Start Me Up. I will stand on my head!
IORR is an automatic.
Satisfaction is an automatic.

Thats my perdiction AND in that order.

If they have enough time they will fit in something off the "Bigger Failure" CD

AND they will bring Stevie Wonder back out for Satisfaction!!!!!!!

Jumping Jack Flash
