just to tell : I think Primitive cool is a great record. 8 GREAT SONGS. Among those one : 3 masterpieces ("throwaway, primitive cool, kow tow.) 5 killer songs :let's work, say you will, peace for the wicked, party doll, war baby. Radio control and shoot off your mouth not so strong and less personal.

party doll is one of the worst songs ever recorded by jagger...radio control is a close 2nd....these 2 tracks in my mind bring the entire album down...other wise i love it!

I've always liked this album alot - everything but the budget-bin cover design. I still can't understand why it's trashed so often. It's better than Mick's first solo effort. He kept getting better with each new release. I hope he puts out another.

Absolutely. Give it another listen. GUN is a masterpiece.

this album raised the "suckage" bar a few notches. truly horrid.

It's not too bad however Wandering Spirit will always be Jagger's crowning achievement imo. Throwaway is a good tune too but I don't like Let's Work (funny how I had this song in my head at work a couple of days ago lol).

Party Doll is a great song, would have been even better with the Stones playing it. Some of the songs were ok Jagger/Beck sounding 80's songs on this album but its another victim of the sound of the 80s.

i'd really like to know your idea of a bad album. seriously.

I wonder what some of you guys would think if the Stones actually wrote these songs rather than Jagger alone.....

I reckon some people just bag Jagger's solo because he isn't with the rest of the Stones. I think some of Jagger's stuff is very good and some are alot better than the rabble on the Stones new album.
Listen to Jagger's lyrics on some of the songs he writes these days ??!

If you put his solo albums in the can then you should throw alot of the recent Stones stuff in there as well.

WANDERING SPIRIT, better than any Stones album from UNDERCOVER on. Every other Jagger album, TERRIBLE!!!

Say You Will is OK. Let's Work and Throwaway are some of the poorest songs I've heard. Party Doll isn't so bad. The lyrics on the title track is not great...

The worst thing with this record is the stribing for a contemporary sound and song-arranging - which IMO fails with a bang. it just didn't suit Jagger at all.

I agree with Esky. Some of PC's tracks are better than stuff on ABB. Only a few are worse.

ABB has a rougher mix ofcourse. But if some tracks on PC had had that treatment and Mssrs Richards, Woods and Watts on them, I bet we'd think they were great Stones tracks.

Primitive Cool is a favorite target of the hardcore Stone fans, but I liked it when it came out. I don't listen to it much these days, but it was a step up from Dirty Work for me.

I do not have Primitive Cool in CD only vynil. Is there a remastered CD version of it?

PC is the one Stones-related disc that I actually sold used after a handful of listens. Didn't even want it taking up space and polluting my CD shelf. It's horrific.

StonesTod- I tend to look at the glass as half full. A bad album, most of the ones released today suck ass. I'll take a weaker Stones solo CD over the crap on the airwaves I hear these days.

You do admit, there is some pretty nice guitar work here.

By the way, what is a "good" CD in your opinion?

"I may be too old to cut the mustard, but I can still lick the jar".

hardcore fans are really funny. Primitive cool is just another great record / some of his great words (I want to say personal words)

It's Jaggers worst solo effort, but it still has some great moments: Throwaway, Say You Will & Kow Tow.

He was thinking more in a pop direction with his 80s solo albums and he's not the right man for popmusic. Nothing against popmusic though... it's way harder to write a great poptune than a great rock and roll tune.

I admit nothing.

A good CD? Wandering Spirit is a killer MJ disc.
