i'm a kind of semi pro but still a real amateur , play guitar and sing in different bands, pretty hard to find some gigs here in france, i also work as a roadie, was in marseille for the stones in 2003, great experience and a @#$%&' great show !
I have a trio called jumpin’ jack flash & the easy riders, lot of sixties black music, we love to play rock’n’roll & love to play the blues !

Please don't kill me, but I'm the bass guitar on 'You Make Me Feel Mighty Real'- Sylvester, 1979. Muy disco, folks.

VHS claims it's the 15th greatest disco record of all time.

... Which of course means I'm ALSO the bass guitar for rap artists like Lil' Kim, Yvette Michelle, and God knows who else that may have sampled Sylvester's discography.

... Hey, remember, I was at Altamont, people. So technically you can't have me shot!

I asked Nikki about playing on a Ron Wood solo product and he cleared it up:

'Darrell Bath, Alan Merrill (ex-Arrows) and I were invited to Foolpark
studios just outside Zurich last August to play on a tribute Lp to Woody.

If Alvin Lee is involved I haven't heard about it.

My contribution was a version of As Long as You Tell Him - b-side to You Can
Make Me Dance. Trouble was, the album organisor, Kurt S, had never heard the
song and thought it was one of mine that I was trying to foist on the
project!'

Chelsea, I'd love to hear your electric version of " Blue Turns To Grey"!! One of my favorite old Stones tunes! Is it as easy as it appears to be ( to play)? I have a book called " Rolling Stones, an unauthorized biograpy in words, photographs and music" and it has all of the sheet music to much of their early material through " Sticky Fingers". I just answered my own question and looked up the chords to it, easy but maybe made more difficult by the speed at which you play it. I used to play guitar, only slide now since an accident to my left hand. Was never a great player before, now the slide is not as involved and I can still make my noise.

I asked my friend again about this Ron Wood project, she got it all wrong, she thought it was Ron's recordings ,but as you mentioned its a tribute record, also it turned out it wasnt Alvin Lee, but was a guy called Albert Lee, yuk yuk

And also Scaffer you are the coolest dude who ever posted on this site, if you played on that Sylvester record, thats a monster club song of all time. I bet if Mick read that post he would smile, because i'm sure he would remember that song very well from the glory days of Studio 54.

They simply don't play it because one third of the royalties of that song would go to Mick Taylor. Keith and Mick don't like that.

been playing guitar in bands since '81, still going.
I guess thats semi-pro, because to be a professional musician one should be able to make a living off of it, right?

It kept me off, stickin' to jobs for too long.
but I can't hang that guitar on the nail.

ChelseaDrugstore and humanriff77:

I'm incredibly honored that you remember.

Not to belabor the point over and over and over again, but I was at Altamont in '69 (as a REAL young guy). To see the Stones. And seeing the Stones inspired me to get into music.

... Well, OK, disco - but that's pretty close to music.

Thanks for knowing who the hell Sylvester is/was.

And yes, I KNOW Mick would remember Sylvester from his Studio 54 days.

The Rolling Stones are my all-time heroes. Sylvester (and Two Tons o'Fun - Weather Girls) are my recordings.

Really, thanks for your responses.

I'll be in Baltimore on 1 Feb. First Mariner Arena. Anybody else?!?!?!?

my local pub, they own 2 vinyls of LAZY COWGIRLS [www.intertank.org]
I was talking to this friend, a bassman and he suddenly mentioned your Band, out of the blue.
I have no idea how we got to this subject but
my drummer works at that bar, and he also plays yer songs

it's a small world..ain't it?
i found that funny that they knew the band from vinyl and I had heard of you over this board

wow - I had to edit this message due to too much x-mas punch.
hope it makes a little more sense now, hehe

All:

Please check out Perosand's link.

He has meticulously crafted a gently wistful - yet firmly rocking - American country R&B sound. Strong rhythm guitars and pedal steel, plus he knows how to pump the low end with bass and foot pedal.

Many out there who like Exile, Dead Flowers, and 'Let Me Down Real Slow' from ABB will find this sampler quite to their liking.

q <: "to profess " meaning...=

english for foreigners...

That's a "play" on words, i.e., "professional" meaning Keith Richards, and I "profess" to know how to play guitars I own, i.e., that's like, I claim to know how to play. Now don't ask me what "play" on words means, or I'm going to "bag" this post.
