An ice hockey team from Florida. The world has gone nuts.

Ice hockey belongs to the tropics, there is no hockey culture in Canada. So of course I'll root for Florida - the home of hockey. Even though my favorite North American player, Wayne Gretzky played for the Oilers...

nature of North American hockey. Like the bloody only thing is the personal points of an individual star player that matters. I pretty much follow Colorado Avalanche, and I cannot help how much it gets to my nerves how many fans only care how many points McKinnon or Makar has scored (see HFBoards). I haven't seen in anywhere else in the hockey world that the status of some individual players is so high. Elsewhere I see people root for the team, not individual players. I guess it is the money that matters: the superstars are the ones gathering the sort of interest NHL asks for.

Never been an Oilers fan! Guess from all their winning back in the 80s. Going for Florida. Good game tonight, Oilers put on lots of pressure but Bobrovsky played amazing. Not sure who the others on here that live around Vancouver are cheering for? Treacle? Babyblue? Paddy?

Edmonton all the way. It's been over 30 years since a Canadian team won, and that just isn't right.
that a team will have won the championship being down 0-3Quote

No real fan of another Canadian team wants Edmonton to win. I bet on Florida and I'm sticking with them.

You have a point there. Due to cap hit or whatever it is they call it, it is not just the case of money. Something has been wrong with Canadian teams. How to build up a winning team. Toronto? Habs? You know, the capitals of hockey world.

I'm a Canadian who isn't really into hockey so I'm watching my first full hockey game of the year, tonight.
I've always had a soft spot for Edmonton as I was a kid during Gretzky's Edmonton heyday.
With no Canadian team having won the Cup since 1993, there are likely a lot of hosers like me tuning in.
