It appears in the 2020s, Brown Sugar's lyrics have been deemed insensitive to some people, so the Stones have dropped the song from the set. I say, this song is one of the great rock anthems ever so maybe Mick should consider rewriting some of the lyrics for 2024 so we can still enjoy this essential concert tune!
I know for 20 years we've been saying "the band's got like 5 years left" but seriously, in 2024 when the two principal band members are literally 80 years old, its probably best to leave it how it is. They, at this point, TRULY can't have that much more time on the road, and if this one has to go by the wayside its for a very small amount of their 60+ year career.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Brown Sugar. It is in my top 5, maybe top 3 favorite songs of theirs, and especially live. Its sad that culture as it is suddenly this is not an acceptable song, which I get but I still think its stupid. But again, I look at it from the view of they played this song for 55 years. If they "can't" play it again, so be it. I'd rather they not play it than play it and cower to changing the lyrics, personally. There's just so little time left I just don't think its worth it.
It was mostly terrible the way they played it the last several decades along with IORR which I also hope stays retired. On the contrary they could also open with it as Jazzfest and just not address it at all afterward.
