One of the original main posters on this site and fiercely passionate about the band. I remember having a rather heated debate with her, soon after I joined in 2007 on the meaning of the lyrics in the song Heaven.

But she was for real, a true lifelong fan. I met her briefly once, at the tribute gig to Ian Stewart at the Ambassadors Theatre in London were Charlie, Bill, Mick Taylor and Ronnie joined a host of other stars in a fantastic gig on April 9 2011.

R.I.P. with sssoul.

RIP with sssoul. I had a pleasure to meet her, travel with her show to show and enjoy the show a couple of times.

That is sad news to hear - I did meet her once, a quick check of my email reminded me that we met in London at The Globe pub off Baker Street in 2006 , we'd arranged a ticket trade for Millennium Stadium Cardiff gig.

Spent a good hour or so in her company, rest in peace with sssoul

O my goodness, the memories !

Running like crazy on her behalf at the Hyde Park show in 2013 to secure the all-important place at the rail on Keith's side, running down those insanely steep steps at the Waldebühne in 2014 to do the same, and there were others which I can't rightly recall right now. If I got a venue or date wrong, the Rolling Stones Department Of Historical Accuracy would no doubt never forgive me and unleash a barrage of stern reminders at me when we next meet up at the great Rolling Stones gig in the sky - to get my facts right !!

Rest in peace dear girl. I am in contact with Stephanie pretty much every day, helping and supporting as necessary, and all will be well in due course. Please be assured. I trust you've already been reunited with your beloved Furr ... Professor !

We'll all meet up again in due course, when the rest of us have finished down here.

Thanks to Sara (Beast) for initiating this thread and this tribute. I tried to, no sooner than I was informed of with sssoul's passing on Wednesday 27th March, but I kept on getting "database error" messages whenever I tried to post ! All is OK now though ...

Although I don't post here anymore, I surely remember sssoul from the early days. She was always a respected member of IORR and rightfully so. She was a true fan and inspired many interesting posts. I hope she didn't suffer too much and wish her family and friends all the best.

Thank you everyone for your sweet words and remembrances of my sister, with sssoul

She would be very honored to read how many of you were engaged with her thoughts on this band. She loved The Rolling Stones more than just about anything in the world and was always amazed and moved by their sound. Her knowledge of the band’s history and lore was awesome. She imagined some far, far, far away future time when The Rolling Stones would be the basis for a forthcoming religion: A band whose job it was to travel all over the world making people happy.

I miss her terribly. But it is solace to me that people here remember her so well and with admiration.

Thank you to Beast and Some Toronto Girl for posting those beautiful photos of her exactly as thrilled as she was in exactly the place she wanted to be: Keith’s side, front of stage.

Thank you to PaulyWaul, Rockman, CindyC, Some Toronto Girl, and Beast for your kind, meaningful support to me directly.

And thank you to everyone here, again, for your words about with sssoul. It means a lot to me. The next time you hear The Rolling Stones, remember that their job is to travel the world making people happy, and maybe have a good thought about with sssoul and send her a wish for peace.

Just learned of this tragic news 30 minutes ago. I was in the hospital for a week, so I wasn’t up to speed. Extremely gutted to read this.

STG: That picture. Can I please use it? I did a poem about her, and that’d be a nice background.

Many thanks SomeTorontoGirl and Beast for the pics. They enabled me to realize that although I thought we hadn't managed to meet up in Berlin, we actually did! And what a sweet person she was, too. Memories are starting to flood back.

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I'm belatedly posting to say that our dear lady with sssoul left this world last week and far too soon. Many of the longer-standing posters on here will remember her for enriching this board with her wit and wisdom and with her erudition as the Department of Historical Accuracy on all things Rolling Stones, the band she always let us know that she loved so much. Thanks and praises to her for all the unforgettable good times I was lucky enough to spend with her over the years. May she rest in peace.

Beast - I need to talk to ya privately.

That 2014 Waldbühne photo of paulywaul and with sssoul reminded me of how hot that June day was as we lined up at the gates from early morning.

with sssoul had brought a Ziploc full of ice cubes from her hotel, I wanna say it was the Adlon Kempinski, and she shared some of that ice so people could get at least a bit of a relief from the scorching heat.

Never forgetting that gesture.

Indeed, I recall it well Topi. I think you quietly snatched a photo of me whilst I was lying flat out on the ground there, catching a quick nap before they opened the gates to the Waldebühne .... and lots of people in due course had a good laugh over that picture !!

Great memories. As the lady herself would've reminded us, "we have the sun, the moon, and the Rolling Stones" !!

Love and light to the Department of Historical Accuracy

Roses, if you ain't got none

------'-,---@

Love, sister, it's just a kiss away

Full of fond memories. The one poster that I regularly did search for on iorr.org, afraid
of missing one of her clever posts.
She'll be missed, but always in my heart.

Gold rings on you, Sister Sssoul
Burning incense all evening.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Yes, her posts were always clever and with entertaining quirks like that rose E:

And she was indeed our saviour withthe ice in Berlin and in Hyde Park too.

Sorry, Kent - I didn't get the email as I somehow lost access to that address after recently moving my data to a new phone.

I asked sssoul's sister about using the photo and she is fine with it, if that's what you wanted to know?

Here is a personal story involving the brilliant and lovely lady with sssoul...

A bizarre incident occurred back in 2016 on the Sunday before the opening of the Exhibitionism show here in New York City. I never wanted to write about this before on IORR.

In 2016, I saw Exhibitionism in NYC, the day before it was opened to the public, as a guest of Matt Lee.

In one of the galleries there was a display dedicated to many of the most notable people who’ve played with the Stones over the years: Nicky, Stu, Bobby, Daryl, Lisa, etc. Comprised of four synchronized video monitors, all four screens changed together to the next person, and one of the four had the person’s name. It was on a continuous loop. Around a dozen people that all of us Rolling Stones fans know.

I was watching this display, and the featured sideman was Billy Preston. Screen #1 had a photo of Billy along with the caption “Billy Preston, keyboards.” The other screens #2, #3 and #4 show other photos … BUT THE PICTURE ON SCREEN #3 WASN'T BILLY PRESTON!… It was Ollie Brown!! Honest! I thought: OMG!! This is ridiculous and bad! Especially now! Some other African-American? Seriously??

I mentioned this serious error to a few people at the show: An attendant in the gallery, Matt Lee, a woman in the souvenir shop. No one seemed to understand or care... The opening party was about to happen in two days...

And Sunday night, with sssoul to the rescue! I emailed her. She is amazing, which I already knew. Sssoul quickly provided me with a link to the name and phone number of the head curator and designer of Exhibitionism, Ilene Gallagher. I soon learned that she’s well known. And sssoul also got me the office telephone number for Rainbow Services… aka Jane Rose’s office. Wow, sssoul!

On Monday morning, the first number I called... a woman’s voice answered, she said “Ilene Gallagher.” I introduced myself and explained this serious problem. She immediately grasped the seriousness of the mistake; and assured me that I had reached the right person at the top. She later emailed me back that the problem was getting fixed in time for Tuesday's opening! For good measure, I also called Rainbow Services and was able to explain the serious problem at hand to someone who said she’d inform Jane Rose personally.

So I trusted that this mistake was fixed quickly. Thanks to yours truly. And with sssoul, of course.

On Tuesday night I stood behind barricades next to the red carpet at the club... There, I recognized Ilene Gallagher going into the show. (I had seen her LinkedIn picture online when I contacted her.) I called out to her and she came over… She shook my hand when I told her that I was the guy who had tipped her off. I was hoping that she’d invite me in on the spot... but I already knew that she couldn’t… I had actually asked her politely the day before might she could reward me with an invitation… but No Tumbling Dice.
