A nice read about Michael Bloomfield. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band album, East-West, with Bloomfield on lead guitar is so good. Also check out the album Fathers And Sons album with Bloomfield working with Muddy Waters for a great blues session. Such a shame the man's demons took him too soon.

If anyone's really interested in learning about Mike Bloomfield, i can highly recommend the biography of him by David Dunn "Guitar King". Extremely well written
and meticulously researched, it covers Bloomfield's life pretty much from cradle to grave. He was a tortured soul and struggled with both alcohol and heroin addiction for a good part of his life. He was the guitarist that Dylan chose to help him make the conversion from acoustic to electric and was instrumental (pardon the pun)in putting together the 'electric' act that Dylan first performed with at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. He was also the electric guitar player on the studio version of Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone.
Be prepared for a lengthy read, the hardcover version clocks in at 740 odd pages
but never a dull moment.
