I can't name any song of Mariah Carey's at all. What's worse, if you played me her entire catalog, I probably wouldn't be able to distinguish any one of her songs from any other.

Spot on. The disrespect that 1960's rock/pop acts get is a crime. Bands like Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Monkees, Hermans Hermits basically invented rock acts on television. The Raiders were the origins of the outrageous stage shows. It is a fair statement that these groups (and others) helped shape the rock n roll of the late 60's and on.
The RnR HOF is pathetic and quite frankly patronizing to some of these awful inductees and nominees. We must be "fair" should be the Hall slogan. Half of these absurd nominees for 2024 should not even be near the "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame. Sadly this really isnt a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anymore.

I think what gets me worked up is that the Hall seems to elevate some while in turn disrespecting others. I think we are at the point of eliminating "inducting" artists into the "Hall of Fame". I would rather see a museum type atmosphere instead of a you're in and you're out thing we have going now.
It had me at hello. Who doesn't like getting all worked up over nothing?!
I've never liked Oasis, so this gives me some schadenfreud.

I think its 6 that they choose. To me the obvious choices are:
1. Ozzy Osbourne - insane he's not in there solo. Excellent solo career, as dumb as how they didn't have Lou Reed in on his own till he died.
2. Oasis - like em or hate em, one of the few bands in the last 30 years people remember. That should count for something. Still a big influence and made a big impact even though I'm not a big fan.
Then we get to others I could make an argument for:
3. Cher - probably not overzealously, but I can't deny she had a career post Sonny and Cher. Personally S&C is all I'd care about with her, but I'd at least get it if she went in on her own, though I don't really consider it "rock"
4. Peter Frampton - love Frampton Comes Alive and I know he's sick so it would certainly mean something, but if I was being honest I'd say he's scraping the bottom of the barrel. He's great, I love him, but he had one incredible live album and some really good songs. That doesn't translate to a HOF career for me, but at least he's rock.
Then kinda a dealer's choice from there. I don't like DMB, and I don't really think they belong, but I guess they're still relevant. Jane's Addiction was fine I guess but again, not even at the level of like an Alice In Chains to me. I get something like Rage Against the Machine, less so Jane's Addiction. Foreigner is corporate rock at its finest. To me, them and Styx don't get anywhere near a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Kool & The Gang is fine but again just not rock for me, same with Tribe Called Quest. Lenny is fine and cool but didn't do enough to really warrant it to me. Sinead is obviously nice as a tribute but it seems like a pity nom to me and I wouldn't have ever considered her rock. I can kinda get someone like Sheryl Crow, but not Sinead even if she made a bigger impact.

I guess its just semantics. Its just a poorly managed museum as it is right now.
