I finally made a bet with her. If the Stones play Coachella, I'm going with her (even though it's a long haul for me). If not, she's gotta come up to my place and take me out for dinner at a restaurant of my choice. I think it's a safe bet.

coachella
Weekend 1 is Friday, April 12–Sunday, April 14
Weekend 2 is Friday, April 19–Sunday, April 21
the lineup repeats both weekends
the 2023 lineup was announced January 10th
the stones promoter does coachella and also jazz fest
coachella does have surprise unannounced guests that generate buzz

Coachella doesn't need the buzz or the extra talent expense, Stones do not need the extra shows and Mick not risking the tour to sing in the dust for 2 weekends. Don't see it happening. More likely to play Glastonbury

SecondSet
And to clarify further, I never had intelligence that the Stones would be playing that other festival, only that it would be happening.

rumor that coachella's three headliners might be:
Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator, Doja Cat

"There was also talk of possible top slots for The Rolling Stones"

A quick survey of recent headliners will indicate that Coachella isn't for Gen X or Millennial boppers anymore (not to mention the really oldsters) . . .
Bad Bunny, Blackpink, Frank Ocean, Blink-182 (last minute addition after Frank flamed out)
Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia + The Weeknd.
Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Ariana Grande

No further clarification needed. Had me at "I never had intelligence..."
Rumor isn't based on your musings secondset, see above post from vibrolux as well as other speculations.
Official appearances at JazzFest and Coachella in the same tour..
I think there is a decent shot

A quick look at the Coachella subreddit, I found this poll asking users who they want to headline Coachella, The Rolling Stones ranked 3rd highest overall.

If you lose, you're out by a couple of thousand dollars; if you win, she's out by - what - $200? Does the small print allow you to choose a restaurant in another country? And can you bring 50 friends?

So much for that (as expected).
Well, at least the Gen Xers get a bit of nostalgia in the form of a No Doubt reunion. (They were great openers for the Stones.)
