Buddy? I just got an email advertising tix for his ‘Encore’ tour, he’s coming through TO in April.
His Nashville show this year was postponed to August 14. Hope it happens!
Check Uber and Lyft, sometimes the prices are similar, sometimes ones dramatically cheaper than the other.
We took one of those to the show last time from the area you're talking about. We had trouble getting one on the way back and hopped on a city bus which took a while with all the stops. But yes there are options.

Chicago traditional blues joints for live music:
Downtown, there is Buddy Guy’s Legends and Blue Chicago, both great blues nearly nightly. The north side (my neighborhood) has Kingston Mines. A bit west is my favorite hole in the wall with great music-Rosas Lounge. Also, the north side’s Green Mill is well known for live jazz and a fun spot.

Hope Buddy will sit in or they'll pop into legends. Looks like he has a show in Champaign 6/26, then two days off until Cincy 6/29.
Also wondering how his health is. Cancelled all tour dates and moved to next year. Plus his january residency seems to not be happening.

There are some other great clubs in town, including The Hideout, Reggies. Empty Bottle, Cobra Lounge, Schubas and Beat Kitchen that lean more to the rock end of the music spectrum.

The Willie Dixon Blues Heaven at 2120 South Michigan has a free concert series on Thursday nights during the summer. I imagine the one on June 27 will mark Willie's birthday (July 1), though - alas - it conflicts with the Stones.
But wait, it usually runs from 6 to 7:30 pm, and the stadium is a 30 minute walk. So both are doable, potentially.
The show I attended in 2019 was great fun. The performer was the Sheryl Youngblood Band - definitely a name to be bookmarked (https://sherylyoungbloodband.com/home) if anyone happens to be in Chicago for any reason at any time.

I go to Buddy's annual January shows at his club. Tickets are normally onsale around Thanksgiving. I've been keeping an eye out to see if shows would happen considering Buddy's health issues. This week we received an announcement the shows will happen and more info available later in the week!

Does anyone know if there is a simple public transport (preferably train/subway) to/from Miracle Mile or other hotel-heavy areas of the city? I managed to get CDs for Chicago2, I used to travel to Chicago for trade shows and the like but someone else was always paying the tab, and we thought nothing of getting a cab or a car service to anywhere. As retirement is on the horizon, I would hugely appreciate being able to get to/from the show without spending a fortune to then sit in traffic.

I'm guessing you're referring to the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue? It's only about 3 miles from Soldier Field, so the easiest would probably be to Uber, although I would check the rates first since they often hike them way up for events like this. I'm sure there's a bus going there too, but I'm not sure how those run these days. Actually, if it's a nice day (and it will be!), it's quite an easy walk and could be entertaining!

the shidoobees have booked a party at the island party hut on the chicago riverwalk on june 26th from 6pm to 9pm. chicago's greatest tribute band, beggars banquet, will be playing. they are terrific! hope we see you there!
