We usually do a kickass tailgate party in the parking lot before and after the shows, so if you can get there early and leave late, it's less traffic and stress. I'll post the lot section once it's been firmed up. The locals do most of the setting up banners and signs so you can find us, It's a confusing parking lot with many entrances and sections. This is always fun time.

Tickets will magically become available month and even weeks before the shows

Be careful too. Whine they are legit I noticed most of these don’t even have the tickets yet at least for Pits they are saying they will transfer within 3 days of event. I rather wait for TM as I’ve never not see tickets drop for any stadium. Could be a month, a week, or a few days before show.

I see, but I live in Quebec, Canada. I don't know if I'm willing to take the road and ride 600-700 miles without tickets.
If they released tickets on the back field (gen. admission) at least a couple of weeks before the show, I'll go.
I saw that there are now some $99.50 tickets available but they are located in the stands, way in the back.

So based on this topic no consensus if best option is Bus or Train. If you leave at encore bus seems to better. Otherwise train. But just based on what I am reading here.

Maybe bus on the way there, and train on way back is another option.

Anyone know if the train from Secausus goes early before the show? Same for the busses.

And is it fun around the stadium?

Based on 2019 show time will be around 21.30. So Doors open at 19.00 ish?

I said it earlier in this thread, the bus is your best option.
I have lived in NYC over 30 years and go to many shows and sporting events at MetLife.

My experience with the train - its ok going to the show, but after the event, the train platform is a major clustetfuck!
Its a far walk once you exit the stadium to the train platform and then they wait until the train is full to depart the platform.
If you dont make the first train you will wait at least 15-30 mins until the next train.

The buses are plentiful and although you may have to wait in line (que) to board, the bus has an express lane to exit the stadium lot and you are back in NYC in 15 mins.

The problem is that there seems to be a bus camp and a train camp. You sound very convinsing,

Tour before that and tour before that . . . no one makes it back to Manhattan any faster (Not saying it is fun or it will be perfect ride every time or every show ) . . . the bus is timed out 26 minute ride not including Traffic . . . the train 15 minute ride . . . 1st Off No one should be "recommending" ANY Mode of transportation as The METLife/Meadowlands mixes things up all the time on how and where to pick up rides buses shuttles - form lines here then there (can get crazy stupid 1-2-3 hour horror stories are not uncommon of just waiting in line to get to shuttles buses hotel transfers back to Redd's limo's ubers) . . . This is always the lesser of two evils . . . I have used them all . . . I will take and also "suggest" over all else the stable-est (no last minute surprises) . . . . the Train back to Manhattan . . . anyone wanna small wager & race back on Show 1 for lets say some Start Me Up Pit Package tickets Show 2 ? I will take that wager . . .as they say I am Driving that Train . . high on . . . Stones encores and outta cocaine

Can anyone give me advice on how to get to the stadium from Montclair and, more importantly, how to get back to Montclair after the show? Trains, subways, Uber, etc. Thanks for any and all advice.

NJ Transit Montclair-Boonton Line from Montclair to Secaucus.
After the show, go back to Montclair thru Secaucus.

All Sports & concert event trains to MetLife Stadium depart from SECAUCUS.

Unfotunately the NYC Metrocard is not valid on NJ Transit buses or trains.
I suggest downloading the NJ Transit app - check schedules and buy tickets with this.
They also have ticket machines in the stations.
