As a huge fan or before and after pictures this drives me nuts. It’s idiotic and it’s a constant and I am not blaming you.
Why would someone make a picture like this but not show what the exactly location looks like now? What is the point of showing everything else as it looks today but the exact spot is what it looks like 40 years ago. I just see the point.

I have a W I D E screen... but here's a reduction

Now here's an idea, Stan.
Did you ever think of SCROLLING all the way to the right ?

As some here on iorr already know... I was in the East Village on St Mark's place the day of the WOAF video shoot in 1981. If you look closely, you'll see that pictures that are inset into the panorama are snapshots that I took on the day of the waiting on a friend video shoot

Another thing ... when inside a quote, the OP's image gets cut off on the right"

I'm bumping this one up to belatedly say thanks to all those who contributed to this thread. We had great fun doing it, made a scrap book out of it so lifetime memories hopefully.

And I've just referenced this thread for content in a show I'm recording today with Glenn Schneider. It'll be episode 6 of The Room 1009 Podcast, for a May release.

A summary minus quoting everyone of all Stones songs that mention NYC in some way, lyrics from [www.timeisonourside.com]:

1. Dance Pt 1 - Hey, what am I doing standing here on the corner of West 8th Street and 6th Avenue and...

2. Shattered - I can't give it away on 7th Avenue; My brain's been battered, splattered all over Manhattan; Go ahead, bite the Big Apple

3. Star Star - Way back to New York City where you do belong

4. Heartbreaker - The police in New York City They chased a boy right through the park

5. Miss You - I've been walking in Central Park

6. Dancing With Mr D - hiding in a corner in New York City

7. Honky Tonk Women - I laid a divorcée in New York City

8. When The Whip Comes Down - I was gay in New York; Yeah I go to 53rd Street and they spit in my face; The East River truckers are churning with trash

9. Undercover Of The Night - All the way from New York back to Africa

10. She Was Hot - New York was cold and damp

11. Anybody Seen My Baby - I was flipping magazines in that place on Mercer Street

12. So Young - Well I took her down to Barney's

13. Do You Think I Really Care - But I see you on the subway I see you on the D train; Just after the Giants game; Long Island Expressway; Saint Patrick's on a Sunday; On 57th and Broadway; I see her on the SkyTrain (is he referring to the Roosevelt Island Tramway?); saw you in The Factory; I saw you in the back of Max’s Kansas City

14. Till The Next Goodbye - I know a coffee shop down on 52nd Street; Yeah, a movie house on 42nd Street

15. Hot Stuff - All the people in New York City

16. The Under Assistant West Coast Promotion Man - But I'd much rather be on a boardwalk on Broadway

17. Good Time Women - Yeah we could land in New York City

Honorable mention: Neighbours is entirely about New York City.

If any have been missed, add them to the list!

schillid - I'm glad you said something about scrolling to the right, I got distracted by the differences just with the top of a truck or whatever.

I wonder how many Stones songs directly reference London?

I'll start:

'Now she gets her kicks in Stepney, not in Knightsbridge anymore - Play With Fire

´Well, I wait in Leicester Square
With a come-hither look in my eye
Yeah, I'm leaning on Nelson's Column
But all I do is talk to the lions`

Great guy's! So, we have three, so far. Are there any more?

I was going to quote Jumpin' Jack Flash, before stopping myself, remembering that Liverpool definitely isn't in London!

«The filthy flat in Fulham»

«Well, the dreary streets of London»

Another classic song, a specific place in London:

I went down to the Chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled

Close but not quite: there is Frederick Street in Camden, but seemingly the one Mick sings about in "Dance Little Sister" is located in Port of Spain, Trinidad...grinning smiley

About London (according to Mick):

"Why do we live in this strange grey town?
They build it up and let it all fall down
Feel like we're living in a battleground
Everybody's jazzed"

– Rain Fall Down

Play With Fire:
Your mother, she's an heiress, Owns a block in Saint John's Wood...
Now she gets her kicks in Stepney, Not in Knightsbridge anymore...

Room 1009, aren't these in the UK, rather than in NYC? What am I missing?

No apologise necessary! I’ve think we’ve spotted them all now. NYC certainly has more references.
