Big interview with Keith Richards and producer Andy Watts should be released in Guitar Player magazine December.

Keith makes for a great interview. If he digs in, and doesn't just go through the motions. But it seems like that Andy Watt really rattled all those old Stones bones back into fighting shape.

The editorial mentions the riffs and lead works of Keith Richards and Ronnie Lane ……. REALLY?
Expect to be accepted as a serious publication?

Mick Taylor was not an adjunct player .He was a full member who contributed to some of their best albums. Bobby Keysand Nicky made incredible contributions..Bobby from1969-1975 and then on and off from 1980 up to his death .He was the best sax player who ever played for them

Thank you, bye bye johnny and Rockman!

The Andrew Watt interview is just as good as this one.

Another great interview, thanks for posting!

It's unfathomable that he can't remember recording Rollin' Stone (Catfish Blues/Still A Fool/Rollin' Stone/Two Trains Running) before, though.

Thx for sharing, Rockman. Superb interviews. The Andrew Watt interview is the best. Hats off to AW for - at a relatively young age - connecting so well with especially Keith. Super interesting to read about his gift to Paul McC and the story about recoding the Muddy Waters number. Historical achievement. Great producer.

A great read !

I'm still a bit confused by the "creation" of the songs though. At the beginning of the interview he says he was game for the project if "Mick had enough material", what about him, wouldn't he have any material of his own to offer ? He Then he talks about SSOH, saying it was created in the studio and started "Otis Redding" style (yes Keith, we'd figured that out courtesy of FFSO) and then he talks about "Tell Me Straight" where the lyrics (his ?) brought the chords. In another interview Mick explained that DOY was written in the studio with Keith and Watt because they didn't think his ballads were up to snuff. Ok so maybe the "material" Keith was referring to were "lyrics" ? But then in the Watt interview, he says Mick said he had no time to write blues lyrics because he had to come up with lyrics for 23 songs.

So what "material" exactly did Mick have ? Besides Keith knew of the dozens of tracks they already had in the can where Watt picked the 23 he thought would work. And why doesn't he take more credit than "moving things around and adding a bridge here and there".

Mick Taylor was not an adjunct player. He was a full member, who contributed greatly to some of their greatest albums. He also played on some of their best live performances

I think he meant that he came and went, not that he wasn't a full member.

Spot on: a less stylized vocal from Mick. Finally!!!!!!!! Honesty does make a bigger impact.

Great read! I expected a few more revelations than what I have got, though.

I just 'Wonder'... How are they going to perform this without Gaga live?

Lovin' the false ending. That's when it gets real groovyyyyyy.

Little Stevie is great too. I wish we heard more from him. This such a cool track to have. I still do not appreciate Angry but Heaven is sounding alright.

Ah ah damn Keith, 18 years of waiting, but "album's creation fun, quick and effortless"...

I think he believes in what he's saying, and so does the journalist (another blessed yes yes), who doesn't reply.

Yeah, my thoughts as well.It must be difficult to come up with an original and interesting question for him.

I don't think any of the Stones members said something surprising anyway, right from the beginning, in 1962. The surprising news comes (came) from the people that were around.

I think its now safe to say that the rumored conflict between Keith and Andy Watt was largely exaggerated if not complete baloney

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that Keith is pictured with a Gibson guitar and not a Telecaster. What is this world coming to?

That's so weird. It seems like a lot of magazines do that. A ridiculous "tactic" to do with publishing and stock.

Just like he was in 1992. If memory serves it was a Strat in 1983.
