The trainers obviously are due to his foot/ankle/leg problems (even though it's denied by some fans), so it's excused. He used to wear them as elevator shoes (for height improvement).
Not having his jacket buttoned is a minor etiquette miss.

Why should Mick Jagger dress compliant to society's norms?
That guy even got knighted with trainers on.
What's next? Is his hairstyle not formal enough?

Interesting picture comparison:
Steve Jobs in January 2010 during the iPad presentation - [GettyImages.com] - and in March 2010 during the Hollywood Academy Awards (Pixar) - [www.GettyImages.com] .
He knew when it was appropriate to wear trainers & jeans - and when it was not.

Not behaving appropriate is part of what rock'n'roll is about.

I totally agree
This is supposed to be a rock and roll forum and I read people complaining about how he should dress in front of royalty...

Exactly: in front of Royals and State Presidents.

And to be fair - there is nothing rebellious about rock and roll anymore. It's just entertainment for the masses.

And his trainers look somehow like $20 no-names from the Supermarket:

so not the Versailles in Kentucky then?
"The aim, for both the Elysée Palace and Buckingham Palace, is to showcase the strong bond and friendship between France and the UK to strengthen ties that have been strained by Brexit" - [www.LeMonde.fr] .
That should read “ties that have been strained by Macron and the other turds in the EU”.

Considering the fact that they are Mick's I guess they are rather $200, maybe even a piece ...

Hadn't the question of Mick's trainers already come up once some time ago?

What has changed between 1971 and 2023? In 1971 Jagger shocked the world by using trainers with a suit in a such a holy ceremony as his own wedding, while his fans couldn't give a shit... In 2023 the world doesn't give a shit, but his fans are shocked for such an etiquette mistake in such a holy ceremony as a State Banquet in Versailles...

Somehow I can't imagine Mick at the bargain bin checking out trainers, "These ones look like they might fit", and then go with them. In fact, I can't imagine Mick at all queuing up at a supermarket cash desk. He'll have his people for that.
Hadn't the question of Mick's trainers already come up once some time ago? Didn't someone identify the model or brand?

Why should any one of the Stones care about dressing "appropriate"? Steve Jobs was the CEO of a tech company, Mick Jagger the singer of a rock'n'roll band. Not behaving appropriate is part of what rock'n'roll is about.
