Yes, agree with the previous posters. He'd better button his coat and get himself some decent footwear. No big deal.

The trainers obviously are due to his foot/ankle/leg problems (even though it's denied by some fans), so it's excused. He used to wear them as elevator shoes (for height improvement).
Not having his jacket buttoned is a minor etiquette miss.

Hi Stoneage, I haven't been on iorr for quite a while so apologies for missing this. What kind of foot/ankle/leg problems does Mick have?

Why should Mick Jagger dress compliant to society's norms?

That guy even got knighted with trainers on.

What's next? Is his hairstyle not formal enough?

I totally agree

This is supposed to be a rock and roll forum and I read people complaining about how he should dress in front of royalty...

Interesting picture comparison:

Steve Jobs in January 2010 during the Apple iPad presentation - [GettyImages.com] - and in March 2010 during the Hollywood Academy Awards (Pixar) - [www.GettyImages.com] .

He knew when it was appropriate to wear trainers & jeans - and when it was not.

Why should any one of the Stones care about dressing "appropriate"? Steve Jobs was the CEO of a tech company, Mick Jagger the singer of a rock'n'roll band. Not behaving appropriate is part of what rock'n'roll is about.

Btw: Mick is the CEO of The Rolling Stones company. And Steve Jobs is Rock & Roll too due to iPod & iTunes.

Cheap rings, too. And he didn't even button his jacket properly. No manners, simply embarrassing. Like a Rolling Stone.

? Why should you wear work wear at work? There are no special rules for rock stars. If Jagger wants to make up his own rules he might as well stay at home.
And to be fair - there is nothing rebellious about rock and roll anymore. It's just entertainment for the masses.

Obviously Mick Jagger is still rebellious enough to wear what he wants at a royal event

Considering the fact that they are Mick's I guess they are rather $200, maybe even a piece ...

Somehow I can't imagine Mick at the bargain bin checking out trainers, "These ones look like they might fit", and then go with them. In fact, I can't imagine Mick at all queuing up at a supermarket cash desk. He'll have his people for that.

Hadn't the question of Mick's trainers already come up once some time ago? Didn't someone identify the model or brand?

What has changed between 1971 and 2023? In 1971 Jagger shocked the world by using trainers with a suit in a such a holy ceremony as his own wedding, while his fans couldn't give a shit... In 2023 the world doesn't give a shit, but his fans are shocked for such an etiquette mistake in such a holy ceremony as a State Banquet in Versailles... grinning smiley

Some would say that's ironical, but I would say it is sweet that still someone is outraged by a Rolling Stone a tiny bit breaking conservative formalities...

Mick hangs out with the class of people who want everyone else without money to be dead or in other words net zero.

In the 60s Mick can be seen performing in socks or even barefoot and the fans didn't care (not even the female ones). In view of that we're lucky he didn't show up at Versailles or at his knighting in socks. Now that would have been something! Otherwise, what has changed between 1971 and 2023 is that nowadays his trainers are much more sophisticated. His 1971 trainers are just a very basic model while his 2023 trainers are technologically far more advanced. Not surprisings, as Mick is always in pace with the times.

Bottom line: Mick is a trainers' man, and apparently so for more that 50 years ... winking smiley

Well, technically, Mick Jaggar partially founded/invented The Rolling Stones whereas Bill Kincaid invented iTunes (renamed from his SoundJam MP that...Apple bought) and Tony Fadell invented the iPod, although Apple tweaked it and Steve Jobs took credit for both, at least, that's how it's seemingly been interpreted.

We've had this discussion about Micks trainers several times, allegedly he wears them because they are built up to give him more height.
