Chrissie Hynde Book Relentless

Just finished the audio version of this book with Rosanna Arquette playing Chrissie. Interesting how many times she referenced the influence of Keith Richards. Quite an interesting story… middle class, Midwestern school girl gets the rock ‘n’ roll bug in the mid 60s after seeing the stones and others pass through Ohio, and then the entire book is about her aspirations to be in a band. Didn’t realize she was right there with the start of punk and hanging and playing with the sex pistols and the clash. Sad how the drugs got in the way of so many things, and in the end, she found her two daughters as the most important thing, and she regrets the loss of two band mates, without her being there to help them because she was also messed up on drugs. Glad to hear she’s been sober for a while and still making music. Saw her at the Greek theater in Berkeley in the early 80s, and thought she was very good. I like how she’s still playing and trying to keep it real in small clubs without playing all the hits. I believe her when she says money and fame never mattered, she just wanted to be in a band.

Love her! I only saw her live once though, opening for the Stones (I believe it was The Pretenders, or current lineup at that time) -- she is great!

Do you mean the book RECKLESS?
Her new album is named Relentless and sounds fantastic to me so far!

Seeing The Pretenders play at Pryzm Kingston in October and will be first time I've seen this great band.
Also happens to be my home town and saw Pete and Roger from the Who there before covid put an end to their forthcoming tour.
Nice small venue to see big name bands.

That is a great book. Hoping there is a part 2 covering the years after the original bass and guitar player died, want much in there about the later years if memory serves.
