02-Feb-1991: London, Hackney Empire, Ron Wood & The Wilfs (benefit-gig for the maternity unit of East London’s Homerton Hospital).

11-Nov-2004: London, Hackney Empire, 'UK Hall Of Fame' ceremony, Ronnie Wood accepts the induction of The Rolling Stones on behalf of the group (aired 14-Nov-2004, UK-TV Channel4).

Wow! A beautiful place. To get to see the Stones play there, well, that would cost diamonds I guess..

Fallon blowing on a dusty phone, that's daring.

Yeah, I thought that was brilliant...just a very slight subtle diss. Perfect.

^ You nailed it, for the cheap laughs. I assume Universal/the Stones org are hoping he will bring a wider audience and therefore more $$$, after all that is what absolutely EVERYTHING comes down to now in modern society, the almighty $$$ and ever increasing profit margins.

I can't stand Fallon, the guy is so fake and lame. He isn't even a good interviewer either.

He's definitely an acquired taste, and I for one am not sure whether I've acquired that taste. On balance, probably not ...

Still, t'was their choice (presumably) to go with him !

He is very American, he is for the American market, that's all.

Yes, he is for American tastes - but at least the event is held in London!

the event is intended for social media, for the whole wide world

Whether or not one enjoys his routine (much like James Corden), Fallon won't be doing his own show tomorrow. They're using his effusive enthusiasm as a host and interviewer to sustain the buzz and provide some useful sound bytes and clips to disseminate throughout social media, television, and press following the event. It's their spotlight, he's there to applaud and gush and set them up to deliver memorable lines.

Personally, I love Jimmy Fallon. I think he's hilarious! Again I'm in the minority around here! LOL I think his era of SNL is the 2nd best era there ever was, after the 90's cast with Sandler, Carvey, Myers, Rock, MacDonald, Farley, etc. All of Hollywood loves Fallon, and the younger crowd do watch him, so I think that it's only fitting he helps announce the album. How many times has Keef been on in the past few years?!?! It'll be great! If they're live streaming the whole album, now that IS something different! Can't wait for that, if that is the case!!

Agree, he was great in SNL. I find some of his gimmicks on his own show a bit annoying, and he seems to talk more than the guests and laugh too much at his own jokes. But apparently he and Richards are friends so why not.

There are so many hosts who talk more than their guests, who force themselves to laugh (even at their own jokes), in short, who overact !

Yeah, I guess having a household name Fallon there to host is to compansate the obscurity of Hackney for that market (a point made by someone here).

But absolute zero meaning to me. Just want to have Mick, Keith and Ronnie to talk something to us. They don't do that too often. And the cause is the best possible.

Feeling excited...

Is the host really that important?

IMO, it's what our boys will say (and maybe what we'll be hearing) that interests me.

Very American, yes.
His show has quite a sizable market worldwide though (Canada,Australia, India, UK,Germany, etc., etc) so not quite sure he is just for the American market.

Jimmy Fallon in Germany? It was: 'The Tonight Show' last ran in German public TV on niche channel 'One' (former EinsFestival), 2016-2017, with original audio plus subtitles - [de.Wikipedia.org] , [www.Wunschliste.de] .

Countries and TV networks aside, "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" can be viewed on YouTube.

Lots of fencing going up around the Empire now. I chatted with lots of the guys, everyone very tight-lipped. One guy mentioned that there would be a red carpet, but i guess we assumed that already

Saw that after I posted.. point stands, definitely not just for an "American" market, especially with YouTube etc.

Not a Fallon fan but don't care he's hosting. It's great a new album is on the way. Just want to know if the single will be available tomorrow. Finger's crossed.
