Wow. I think it's gonna be really good guys. Mess It Up? Wow. Bite My Head Off? Is it 1978? Can't wait for the full, uninterrupted listen. Saved Rolling Stone Blues for the full listen!

Tell Me Straight is as good as slipping Away or Thru and Thru (to my ears it sounds a bit like both of those songs)

Yeah those are the same two it reminded me of. I also felt Dreamy Skies evoked No Expectations and there's definitely a strong Some Girls/Tattoo You vibe on several of the tracks.

But...WOW...What a great @#$%& album! This is one time I think the "best since Some Girls" talk is well-deserved, as it's easily the most cohesive work they've put out in decades. I suspect limiting it to 12 tracks made a huge difference in that regard.

To my ear, Depending On You, Whole Wide World, and Mess It Up sound like they would have the most mainstream potential as singles in 2023. It's a shame the broadcast of Mess It Up cuts out just as Mick breaks out his falsetto, but at least we'll get the full version on Tuesday!

So Mess it Up has Micks Really Want to tell the truth
Great track! All are great !

The best is Charlie and Bill together on Live By The Sword

Mick says there’s more Charlie coming, fantastic

Grades I give on the songs so far, it may change when I hear the full album:

Angry - 8

Get Close To You - 8

Depending On You - 8.5

Bite My Head Off - 8

Whole Wide World - 9

Dreamy Skies - 9

Mess it up - 8.5

Live By The Sword - 7.5

Driving Me Too Hard - 8

Tell Me Straight - 8.5

Sweet sounds of heaven - 8.5

Rolling Stone Blues - 8.5

Not a bad album, I think it will definitely be on my top 10 Rolling Stones albums and it will be one of the best post 1978.

The guitar, the singing an the rest of the instruments sound so good, the music so unique, like in Mess It Up.

I don't think the singles are the best songs on the album.

What a great era to hear great Rolling Stones songs.

From what I’ve heard so far.. and my opinion doesn’t mean anything. Depending on you might be the best song on the album. The best groove hands down is live by the sword. You’re never going to get better in rock n roll than the watts/wyman rhythm section.. ever

I agree. Of course the song is very close to Wandering Spirit, GITD and Alfie. But hey I love it and the strings are very Nice as well

The whole album sounds modern yet nostalgic at the same time, the trilogy Live By the Sword / Driving Me Too Hard / Tell Me Straight is emotional in every level, so familiar, like a definitive goodbye from an old friend.

Whole Wide World may be the best song on the album, killer tune, wow.

Wow this album is so good. I've got tears in my eyes listening. After waiting for so long for this "new album", and Charlie dying, and the lockdown and everything, "early stages", "hitting the wall", basically no hope, they come up with this and it's actually so good, and such a beautiful addition to their already legendary catalogue, amazing.

Really like Bite My Head Off!

Dreamy Skies sounds pretty good as well.

Out of the two songs with Charlie, I liked Mess It Up more at the couple of first listens.

just wow

its way better then i thought it be and i knew it was gonna be good

it's interesting that angry maybe the weakest track on the album (and i like angry) which just goes to show how stunning the quality of the music is

and i'm gonna resist the urge to say it's as good as some girls or tattoo you in my opinion it's not

it is however to me on par with emotional rescue and undercover

it actually stikes me as very similar to undercover in a way and as sort of the brighter more postive conterpart to undercovers gritty edgy darkness

but regardless of my opinion on were it ranks in relation to there other albums i'm sure most of us can agree its better then any of the albums since 1989

andrew watt your my hero

i'm ashamed i ever doubted you or your abilities

and paul's part bass is awesome on bite my head off

also love to hear from voodoolounge13 on how it compares in his opinion to his beloved namesake and gaslightstreet on if he agrees with my comparison to undercover

can't wait to get a real physical copy of the album in my hands

It has the variety of Some Girls and I think that’s why the reviewer’s were mentioning that. It all sounds great to me. Variety of styles. So I understand the comparisons to Some Girls.

DIAMOND MINDS
My Arts Desk review of Hackney Diamonds went up in the middle of the night - here's the link; includes a track by track run-down, too. Brilliant album. It's just like itself, really, but it's also a peak Stones record I reckon!
