I know Voodoo Lounge and Between the Buttons, but what is story w/Aftermath, Sticky Fingers, Steel Wheels, Bridges, Black and Blue, etc.?

Mick said he was taken with the architecture of bridges, and that was going to be the name of the album — “Bridges.” And then the playwright Tom Stoppard suggested adding “…to Babylon.”

December's Children (and Everybody's) From Wiki:

The title of the album came from the band's manager, Andrew Loog Oldham (who facetiously credits it to "Lou Folk-Rock Adler" in his liner notes on the back cover). According to Jagger, it was Oldham's idea of hip, Beat poetry.[1] The front cover photo of the band, by Gered Mankowitz, had previously been used for the UK edition of Out of Our Heads.

«Sticky Fingers was never meant to be the title. It's just what we called it while we were working on it. Usually though, the working titles stick.»

- Keith Richards, 1971

«The cover's got nothing to do with the title.»

- Mick Jagger, 2015

In 1996 Bill Clinton used "the Bridge" as an image and a slogan to connect the 20th century with the 21 th; the bridge was cool around that time! May be the symbolism inspired the Stones.

Personally I much preferred the working title - "Blessed Poison". Much more "Keith"-sounding!

I'm sure this has been pointed out before, but the alliterative titles of:

Between The Buttons
Beggars Banquet
Black And Blue
Bridges To Babylon
A Bigger Bang

Are thought to be a nod to the original band name 'Little Boy Blue and the Blues Boys'?

What about Aftermath?

Was originally to be titled Could You Walk On Water ...

Decca refused that title .....

If 'Beast Of Burden' had been selected as the title track instead of 'Some Girls', you could add this album to your alliteration list!

Wasn't 'Automatic Changer' the working title for the 'Let It Bleed' album?

And 'Voodoo Lounge' was named after a kitten Keith had found, adopted and named 'Voodoo', I believe.

Seems you haven't looked at the home page in a while as well as missed the rest in this thread.

No about LET IT BLEED - it was the LP title.

Kinda about VOODOO.
