Amsterdam Echodome

Been there twice. But this will be the first time I'll be in the first section in the field.

Can anyone tell me if the sound is less bad FOS?

Last time I was in the far end and the sound was so low that everybody around me was having their own converstations or phonecalls.

Yes it is. It's better. But still...:-(
But they are going to invest 1,4 million € to improve the sound

Been there 7 times. The sound was always perfect.
You will experience this too on July 30 and August 1 when you have FOS tickets.
I've got the 2003 shows in a perfect audience quality. Nobody believes it was recorded in the Echodome. The only way to convience people is to run to opener Brown Sugar with the not to miss Keith openingriff. Or the way he totally missed the beat and was out of tune for 20 or so seconds.
I won't start again this topic. When it rains we all are glad there's a roof. Like the Stones, never to predict those Dutch summers.
Let's enjoy show number 8 and 9 in the Echodome.

The sound is good if you are in front of the stage!
During the first concert in the Echodome (lol) i could hear the echo and i was first row. I could only imagine what the rest was hearing... But in all fairness, the sound had improved the second night and the rest of the shows.

Cheers,
Wuudy

You are right about the rain. It was pouring last time I was there. And let's not forget the Maliveld mud party.

Pouring? The ArenA had a closed roof. Sorry.

That's what I meant. I remember getting wet walking the 3 miles form my car to the venue. That made me glad there was a roof.

I don't prefer concerts in the rain of course but the malieveld mud party was absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!
I was waiting in line from 24:00 the day before so that was a 18 hour wait before the doors even opened and it was raining all the time. It stopped for the opening act Big Country and thenit started again when Keith hit the first note of Sarisfaction. The rain really gave the show something extra believe it or not. It wasn't maybe there best concert because of the rain but it sure was one of the fun ones!!!! Only time i liked the rain. In Groningen it was terrible!

Cheers,
Wuudy

Been there twice FOS but it was still a terrible sound in comparance with outside shows, at least that's my opinion, I'll go for Belgium and Germany (and hopefully Groningen)

ps. I really enjoyed the Malieveld mudparty btw...

I also loved the Malieveld Mud Party a lot. Wonderfull atmosphere and the Stones seemed to enjoy themselves greatly.

But...Will it be improved BEFORE the Rolling Stones play in the stadium ? I mean, in the months or weeks BEFORE the event ??

I'd much rather be soaked with a great concert than stay dry with a horrible anti-R&R sound which is the case in the echodome...

I saw them 5 times in 98 in the ArenA but I swear to myself that I won't go again. At least you got the maximum for your money. You might be able to listen to two shows for the price of one ;-)

Stones won't use the arena sound system for sure!

They are putting in sound absorbing material. So the echo will be reduced. I've heard from a soundman that it is possible to improve the sound!

Arena sucks big time. 5 Bridges To Babylon shows FOS section, sound was terrible first night, by the 5th the sound was ok. But not more than that. Any other show I've seen during that tour had a better sound quality.

Let's face it this stadium sucks as a concert venue. U2 a couple of months ago. You couldn't even hear what Bono was saying in between songs. One big echo.

Who cares about a roof. It's not holiday on ice!

A real fan would go! Mick loves to play Angie and Paint It Black again, because they want to play on the edge, and keep trying new things!

Not agreed, a real fan wants to actually hear the music as good as possible, I was FOS in 1998 and Mick's mouth was already closed before the sound echoed to my ears...come on
